I open my eyes to find myself lying on hard earth. Where am I? Grasping the ground I roll my self in a sitting position. Taking a look at my surroundings was enough to tell me that I was no longer in near the city. It was nighttime, wait no- the sky had a dark gloom that made it impossible to tell if it was either day or night. A crackle breaks me away from my thoughts and I whirl around to a campfire. A campfire? I'm not alone, somebody had to light the campfire and they'll be returning soon. Maybe I should run away. Who knows who this person is. Quickly, I run away from the fire hoping to find my way out of this forest. the dark trees block any source of light as I sprint. Branches whip across my body stinging me with a sharp pain. In the distance I spot an orange glow that feels inviting. My way out! Crashing through bushes I fly out into a clearing... the same clearing. I found myself in the exact spot I began from. How? I left in one direction and appeared from the other side. Determined to get out of this haunting forest I continue running...
My body fills with fear as I reach the campfire for the fourth time. An endless loop. There's no escape. A nightmare. I run my hand through my short blond hair. Wherever I try to run, I always end up in the same place I ran from. Every time. Giving up on trying to escape I sit myself in front of the campfire, the only thing that was comforting in this hell of a place. Closing my eyes I try to clear my mind from the panic and fear that builds within me. What I felt that moment was the most horrible thing I've ever felt. Not pain or fear, but the feeling that something sinister was watching me and everything that I was doing. A chill runs through my spine just as I open my eyes. Huh? I don't see anything. The campfires glow had disappeared and my vision was filled completely with darkness. My heart races as time goes by without my ability to see.
Not long after my vision had been lost, it slowly returns back to me. My head spins as I place my hand onto a tree. Tree? I was not near any trees. The dizziness stops and my vision clears. I take a step forward from my location. Wasn't I sitting down? More fear fills my body as I realize that things weren't right. I prepare to shout for help, but the feeling of a darkness watching me stops me. I need to move. Unsure if there are any dangers I carefully trek through this new forest. As I walk I notice a tall wall that seems to encircle me. Off guard, I walk myself into a brick wall. Reclining from impact I grabbed my stinging nose. My warm blood runs into my hand, but luckily it stopped very quickly. Backing up I check out the wall I ran into. Cracked on the edges with window just on the the side near a corner. Looking in front of me now, I see that there are more walls like the one I walked into. Most of them were only one side of a wall but some were connecting. Ruins. This place is falling apart.
A dark shadow in the distance catches my attention and pulls my gaze toward it. It was huge even as it ducked down and rose back up. The figure in the distance had the shape of a big man, but it fades away quickly in the fog. Somebody! I sprint in the direction of the shadow only to hit the brakes in the general area where the man ducked down. The stop was on instinct, a feeling that screamed at me to stop running or something horrible might happen. My eyes scan the patch of grass and I notice a glint of metal in the grass. Brushing away the grass to observe the object, I instantly retract my hand when I discover what the object is. I'm lucky to not have lost my hand in the rusted metal jaws of this device. The mouth stretches out like a predator waiting for it's prey to make a false step to its painful demise. A bear
trap. Realization hits me like a tidal wave as I think of all those times I ran. I could've stepped into one. Gradually standing upright, I begin to tread carefully if there happens to be any more unseen dangers.I find myself standing in front of a crudely made metal shack. No other words to describe it other that, plates of metal, rusty and square. Finding an entrance I take step inside the small building. Looking around the room I find is empty of all except for a broke down generator a couple of scarlet red closets. I run my hand over the generator and observe the great amount of dust on my hand. Hasn't been used in a long time. A thick board rests on the side of a second entrance to the building. Eying a strange reddish down spot on the wall that a shade different from all the rust, I get closer to see what it is. When I'm directly in front of it, my heart speeds ups getting louder and louder. Blood. Before I even realize it, my heartbeat screams in my ears. Then it's become so loud that it sound like a song a terrible song of blood and suffering, backing up from the wall is when I notice it. It's not my heartbeat. Fear strikes me as a fall down on my butt and back away against the wall with the window. Before I know it, the other heartbeat screams at me the keep still and not even breath, a primal emotion that fights for the wish of survival. A bright red stain appears on my left on the other side of the window swaying from left to right as if it was looking for something. A deep growl adds another layer fear to my already large amount of fear. My lungs scream at me for air, but I don't dare make a sound.
As soon as it came, the stain receded and the heartbeats fades away into a memory. Creeping up to the windowsill of the window, I risk the chance of being seen by getting a glimpse of the frightening creature. My brain is stunned with shock as it remembers the shape of the creature in the distance from before- a humanoid figure too large of a size to be human at all. The creature walks at a pace that anybody can tell it was searching for something maybe even someone. In its right hand is a large blade glinting in the bright moonlight. My throat begin to feel like it's swelling up and I rest my back against the once more.
"Where am I?" I ask myself.Leaving my spot I decide to look for an exit out of this dark place. I choose to walk along the walls in hope of a gate or a nothing that might get me away from here as quickly as possible. A loud noise breaks the ever growing silence. Caw! A crow with with that seems to suck away the light around me flies off into the darkness of leaves above me. My heart skips a beat from the jumpy nerves of mine. In moments I find myself standing in front of a large old white gate. To the left lies a lever that I attempt to pull with my now grimy hands. I wait a couple seconds ... But nothing happens, the gates do not make any noise that tell me they're powered in any way. Damn it! Anger and sadness fill my head trying to figure a way out of this enclosed land. Turning around,
