Nora's POV

I got home ten minutes after I was suppose to.  Luckily my parents aren't home.  However, I wonder where they are.  I walked to the refrigerator to look for a note or something that would let me know that my parents didn't just up and leave.  I mean I know they would never do that, I just worry sometimes.  Just as I suspected, a note hanging on the door of the fridge.

 Nora,

Your father and I went to Seattle for the weekend.  He's been stressed so we decided on a mini vacation.  Sorry it is short notice, and I left some money in your room on your dresser.  If you need anything just call me or your father.  And If you have a party make sure to clean up after.  Just kidding.  Now be careful and lock the doors when you go to bed.  And make sure the dog sleeps with you tonight.  Love you dear.

Mom

"Great, I'm on my own tonight."  I said to myself.  I hate being by myself.  Not because I'm afraid that someone is going to kill me, but more because I love being around people.

"Oh well, I'll just write some more lyrics, and play my guitar."  Once again talking to myself.  "Toby!"  I yelled for my dog to come inside, before locking the door tonight.  Now what came after my dog was a surprise.

"Ezra?"  I said as I saw him walking with my German Shepard.  "How did you know I lived here?"  I asked, a little freaked out that he knew where I lived.

"Look, no time to explain, but you need to come with me.  NOW."  He said with a little worry in his voice.

"What?  No!"  I said giving him a confused look.  "Why are you here?"  I asked still a look of worry on his face.  "Ezra?  Ezra!  Answer me!"  I said looking at him, starting to worry.

"Just grab your stuff.  I am not leaving you here by yourself.  Please Nora.  Just come with me."  He said with his pleading dark blue eyes.  They look so familiar.

Then it hit me, like a punch in my stomach.  "Y...you're him.  You're the guy from my dream..."  I said covering my mouth and backing up against the counter top.  "H...how, no!  You can't be real!"  I screamed covering my face.

"I know.  I dreamt about you too.  That is why I'm here, but we have to leave, or they will come and get you!"  He said speaking fast.  I was amazed at how much I was able to understand him.  "Nora, they are almost here, please lets just go!"  He said pleading again.  I had the urge to go with him.  And I don't know why.

"What about my dog?"  Really?  Was that all I could say?  "I'll go with you, but you have to let me take Toby.  I will not leave him here!"  I said talking fast.

"That's fine.  We have to go now!"  He said grabbing my arm and pulling me to the forest.  Toby following behind us.  We stopped behind a tree, and I watched as three black blurs went into my house.  I heard yelling and cursing.  Then I heard one of them say something that almost broke my heart.  Split it right down the middle.

"Dammit Lorenzo!  You had one fucking job!  That letter was suppose to work.  She had no clue that her parents were killed.  Where the fuck is she?!"  Ezra had to cover my mouth from screaming out bloody murder.  They killed my parents.  Why my parents?  They didn't do anything to them.

"Come on Nora!  We have to get out of here.  I know it hurts.  I'll explain what is happening when we get back to my place.  Just hold on to me, and don't stop running no matter how tired you get."  He whispered while giving me kisses on my forehead.  All I could do was nod my head in response to what he just said.  "Come on."  He said helping me up from the ground.  We started running.  I knew Toby was following close behind.  The only family I had left.

We finally came to a stop at a big house, opposite side of the forest.  After getting in the house, the only thing I remember is looking at Ezra with so much sadness before I let the blackness of what was now my heart, swallow me whole.
