Nora's POV
I woke screaming. Clenching my chest. What normal person would dream of her parents dying? I opened my eyes from squeezing them shut. But I wasn't in my room. I wasn't going to complain because the room that I was in was beautiful, but seriously where was I? I looked around for any signs of where I might be. The only hints I had was a portrait of a handsome man on a black mane. The man looked familiar to me, but I couldn't place my finger on it. His features were breath taking though. Black hair, strong jaw, dark blue eyes. It was all mesmerizing.
"Ahh, you are awake!" I heard behind me. I jumped and screamed, but I mean come on....You would have too.
"Holy shit, Ezra! You scared me half to death!" I said clenching my chest again. I looked at his face and then back at the portrait. "Are you and whoever is in this painting, related? You two look way to similar not to be related." I said looking back at him.
"I guess you can say we are related. Me and that fellow are alike in so many ways that one might say that we were the same person." He said with a chuckle and shaking his head like he made a joke that only he and the portrait could understand.
"Well, could've fooled me. I was about to ask if that was you. And if you were immortal like a vampire, because you both have way too many striking similarities." I said turning to look at the portrait again.
"Do you believe in Vampires, and all that supernatural stuff?" He asked me. I kind of stopped looking at the portrait because I have never once heard Ezra say the word "Stuff" before. "What?" He asked as I was staring at him.
"Did you, Ezra the man who has an excellence sense of English, use the word 'stuff'?" I asked with a little grin.
"I guess I did. You Miss Nora, are rubbing off on me." He said back with a little smirk on his face. Then it all hit me. Why was I here? Why wasn't I at home? With my parents and my precious Toby? Was my nightmare possibly reality?
"Ezra, why am I here at your house? This is your house, right?" I asked looking at him straight in the face. "Ezra, answer me." I said when he looked away from my face, as if hiding something from me.
"You don't remember?" He asked looking back at me. "Nora, you have to remember what happened a couple days ago!" He said again. Wait, a couple days ago? I've been asleep for two days?! "Nora?" I heard Ezra say. I looked at him, confused.
"The nightmare was real?" I said looking at him, tears forming. "M..my parents are dead?" I said letting the tears spill over.
"I'm so sorry, Nora!" I heard Ezra say, confirming that my nightmare was indeed reality. I fell to my knees. I was too weak to stand. Too weak to take the blow of what I thought was my life. Then I thought about my dog.
"Where's Toby?" I asked looking up at Ezra. "Where is my dog?" I asked him again.
"He's in my room. He isn't doing to good, emotionally. When you fainted, after we got here, he went and laid by your side. He wouldn't even let me pick you up and bring you up here, without me ensuring him that you will be safe." He said as I dropped my head to the floor again. "Do you want me to go get him?" He asked me as he was lifting my chin to look at him. I could barely see him through the blurriness that invaded my eyesight. The only thing I could do was nod.
When he came back with Toby, all I could do was crawl to my German Shepard, too emotionally and physically depressed to stand up. I engulfed my three year old pup into a big hug and just cried. I heard him whimper and I knew that he felt the same sadness as I did.
