With football season coming to an end, and the weather getting cooler, I can already tell it's getting closer to Christmas. And baseball season. Score. Shane and I have volunteered at a local children's hospital around the holidays. We're going to go and make some little kids happy and stuff. I absolutely love kids. I hope Shane does too. We're making little baskets with some little goodies in them for the children's. Various toys and prizes. When we've got a good many done, we journey towards the hospital. I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to cry at least once. "You ready for this babe?" Shane says as we walk up the stairs to the entrance. I slowing nod my head and proceed to check in by talking to a gray haired woman typing away at a computer. "um yes we're here to do some volunteer work with the children.?" Shane nervously states. "Names?" the gray woman says. "Morgan Weathersby and Shane Morrison." I say wanting to hurry this up. "Through that hallway and to the right is the children's wing. Good luck." She says giving us a visitors pass. Shane nods approvingly and we're on the way. We make our way into the first room to find a little blonde boy around age 7 or 8 by the name of Bailey. "Hi buddy. How's it going." Shane says reaching out to shake his hand. Bailey is said to have some rare bone cancer, and they don't know how long he's going to live. "Hi." He says looking shy. "I'm Shane, and this is my girlfriend Morgan." He says trying to make the boy less tense. "Wh-what's a girlfriend?" Bailey asks looking as if Shane just killed his puppy dog. "Well you see it's when a boy and a girl decide they like each other and want to be together." Shane says looking at me like I'm supposed to have the answers. "Can I have a girlfriend?" Bailey asks. "Well I suppose so. You just gotta find the right girl." Shane says winking at me. "Who will be my girlfriend?" Bailey says if he's losing hope. Then his face looks as if a lightbulb went off inside of his head. "Morgan, will you be my girlfriend?" Bailey asks. How could I say no to a brilliant boy like him? "Well I don't know... Do you really want me to?" I say winking back at Shane who is trying not to crack up. "Oh yes please!" He says. "Well of course I'll be your girlfriend." I say. His face lights up and I wrap him into a hug. We chat for a few more minutes then realize it's time to go. "Bye boyfriend." I say giving bailey a small kiss on the cheek. He turns beet red and waves. Gah I love that kid. Shane and I talk about it the whole way home. He finds it quite funny. I can't wait until next week!
