‘1 Year Later’
“Emerson Jenkins to the office please, Emerson Jenkins to the office please.” The P.A system rang out over the classrooms. My eyes turned to the teacher who nodded her head in approval. I slowly packed up my stuff and put them away in my black canvas bag, I slung the bag onto my back and made my way towards the door, I turned the knob and pulled the door towards me, stepping out I shut the door firmly behind me. I sighed and made my way down the empty hallways passing by classes that held bored students and teachers that droned on about nothing. As I neared the office door, I looked into the glass window and froze were I stood. Two burly looking police officers stood in the small office, tapping their fingers on their thighs and talking to the principal. My whole body was frozen. I could barely breathe. They had found me after a year of hiding. The police officer looked up at that point. He had luscious brown locks and bright green eyes but that didn’t matter at the moment, his eyes burned straight through me and he took a step towards the door, with that little movement I was broken out of my trance. I turned around, my bag flying on my back and full out sprinted towards the doors which held my freedom. I was pretty fast, but I had one major flaw, when I had jumped from that window little over a year ago I had some pretty serious injuries which never got taken care of properly, plus I had badly injured my leg and I wasn’t able to walk on it properly since. As I continued to run my mind flashed back to that eventful day
***************************FLASHBACK*********************************************
I jumped up and out the window. Everything seemed to slow down as my body left that window. The ground slowly came closer to me. . . I collided with the ground with a thud; I may have thought the ground wasn’t that close but it was far away! I landed awkwardly on my legs; one leg is at an odd angle and is extremely tender the other is also sore. I push all of it to the back of my mind and make a run for the close-by woods. I turn my head to see if anyone was following me, luckily there was no on there. They were all were scanning the bushes that surrounded the hospital. They probably thought I was dead or too badly injured to move. I was seriously injured, I shouldn’t be able to move heck I shouldn’t even be standing! Adrenaline was the only thing keeping me going at this moment in time, also the fact that I didn’t need them. They would eventually find out the truth, and I couldn’t risk them finding out. My broken and damaged legs brought me over to the edge of the woods and I propelled myself into the dark and quiet woods. When I thought I was far enough into the shadowy woods. I let myself collapse where I had stood. I pulled my body with the last of my energy to a nearby tree and let my body relax. The pain in my body sprang out at me, my legs were sore, my head was throbbing, and my ribs ached. I leaned my head against the tree and stared up into the darkening sky, my eyes becoming heavier and heavier as the sky continues to darken.
******************************************************FLASHBACK OVER*************************************************
As I was nearing the exit my leg gave out on me. I yelled out in frustration and pain, I looked down at my leg another scream left my body. I was horrified my leg was at a very strange angle, I could see the bone from underneath the skin! I had pushed myself too far this time. I heard the pounding of the footsteps behind me they were getting closer by the second. All my push and fight drained out of me. I let myself slump down to the ground, the pain in my leg was too much to handle. I let my eyes droop close. Just as I heard the footsteps of my pursuers slow down to a halt right above me “Call an ambulance” and I was out, blackness surrounded me.
Unknown’s P.O.V
I watched as the fragile little girl got taken on to the stretcher. Her hair blew across her small delicate facial features. I watched as the doors of the ambulance shut behind her and the ambulance pulled away followed by a police car. I had to find her. I had to talk to her, but for now “I’ve found her. She was being taken away by an ambulance and followed by a police car though” I nodded my head in understanding and hanged the call up. I slid the phone back in my pocket and got in my car and started the engine. I had to follow her. . .
Emerson’s P.O.V
When my eyes fluttered open it was like déjà vu. I was lying in a hospital bed, my wrist bound to the beds frame. I gave a few futile tugs but to no avail. I was stuck in this bed, and I doubt I would be getting out of this again. I let myself relax against the bed but it was short lived. A voice, no ‘that’ voice came back “It’s nearly time dear” the unknown voice said to me. “Who are you? What do you want from me!?” I asked out loud my voice slightly cracking. “You will know soon enough dear” the voice replied before disappearing once again. I sighed heavily, I had no idea who or what the voice was, I remembered when I was like 6 the voice had first appeared, it had said one simple sentence ‘Hello little one, you don’t have to worry, I’m here. You will know who I am soon enough’ after that little encounter I had freaked out screaming and yelling, so much that I had passed out. From then on the voice had returned every now and then. Nearly every time they had caused me to have panic attacks. The worst was certainly the incident that had landed me in the hospital. That simple sentence, 4 simple words ‘It’s nearly time dear’ what was that supposed to mean. Nearly time, nearly time for what!? For what I ask. “Come back I need you!” I scream out in frustration “Nearly time for what?!” my voice cracks, my heart rate going erratic. “Just answer me you son of a bitch, what is it? What is it nearly time for!?” I wench myself up from the bed completely forgetting about the handcuffs. My body lands on the floor, my arm hanging from the cuff above my head. My mind was in a panicked state, like usual when the unknown voice spoke to me. My mind was over thinking, putting things there that weren’t. “Let go of me! No just let it go! It’s not time, I’m not going anywhere with you!” I pulled frantically trying to get my hand free from the restraints.
