Day Off

You woke up to the sun in your eyes and the smell of clean. The smell of clean could only mean one thing. Today was everyone's day off. How could you tell? Every time you all have a day off, Levi likes to get up really early to clean the halls and just about everywhere.

You slowly got out of bed with a big yawn and made your way to the bathroom. You took a longer shower today and just enjoyed the warm water. After you got out, you wrapped yourself and your hair in a towel and exited the bathroom. You realized you had already missed breakfast from waking up so late so you opened the door to your room, just a crack, and placed a do not disturb sign on the handle. You closed the door and sat down on your bed. You then reached over to your bedside table and lit a cupcake scented candle that was on it. You hummed your favorite song to yourself as you changed into your regular clothes, then sat down on your bed to read.

You had opened the window to let in some air, so you could hear the sound of air blowing through the trees and the birds whistling in them. You would sometimes whistle back to the birds, even though you knew it was silly and pointless. You continued to read your book for another hour or so. Then a knock came to your door. You stood up and walked over to the door in a happy mood and opened it. There you saw the one and only, Mikasa.

"Hey Mikasa, what can I do for you?" You asked.

"I came by to give you this." She held out a plate with a sandwich on it. "Lunch just ended and I realized that you never came to eat."

You took the plate and set it on the table near you. "Thank you so much, I must have lost track of time."

Mikasa smiled warmly at you. "Of course. Anything for a friend."

"So what were your plans for the rest of the day?" You asked.

"Well, I don't really have any. I was going to read a book or something, but I've already read all of mine."

"Haha! Same here. I've read this book at lease twice today. Although it is good, I don't feel like reading it for a third time."

"Do you want to go outside for a bit? We could probably use some fresh air."

"Yea, that sounds great."

So after eating, you grabbed your shoes and walked outside with Mikasa. It was a bit chilly today, seeing as it was almost December. You had your favorite jacket on. Your mother had given it to you before you joined the survey corps. You were planning to go and visit her for Christmas, but she had sadly passed away due to a heart attack. You missed her, but still continued living and fighting. And your father? Always drunk, never home, and abusive. Your mother had delt with him till you were ten. She just decided to lock the door and not let him in. He took it surprisingly well and never came back. He probably left to start a new family with some other woman.

You shook the memories from your head and bounced in your step. You loved the cold weather. It brought that familiar Christmas feeling. You let Mikasa lead you both to the forest where you do your titan training. "What are we doing here?" You asked her.

She looked over at you and gave a slight smile. "I found this secret place here, about a day ago, in the trees."

"Ok."

She started climbing one of the trees. It's branches had made a stairway up to the top. You followed Mikasa, but made sure to watch every step so you didn't fall. Once you reached the top, you saw Mikasa sitting on a wooden board with her back against the trunk of the tree. She was staring straight ahead. You followed her gaze to see that some branches had been cut away to view the world below us. It was amazing.

"Did you do all of this?" You asked her in awe.

She shook her head. "Nope, I found it all like this. I just kinda thought you would like it up here since you're so silent and calm all the time."

You sat down in confusion. "Then who did all of this...."

Mikasa shrugged her shoulders. "I dunno. They did a great job though."

You nodded as a reply.

Mikasa slowly stood back up. "I know we just got here, but I remembered that I promised to help Eren with some project. Are you ok up here?"

You nodded your head and hummed in reply. She nodded back and started to make her way down the tree staircase. The sun was beginning to set and people were heading back inside. You still sat there and watched the sun set. After getting bored, you picked some leaves off of the tree and made a little leaf doll. As you finished your leaf doll, lilly, the sun was just about gone and the stars were shining. You walked to the edge of the platform and stared in awe at the thousands of stars that littered the dark sky. You shivered slightly as a cold breeze blew through the leaves.

"You're gonna catch a damn cold in such a thin jacket." A familiar voice said, scaring you and making you almost fall over the edge. A hand caught your jacket and pulled you back up. You turned around to see Levi, your squad leader. "S- sir?"

"What are you doing up here in my only place of peace and quiet?" He asked.

"Um well, I uh." You didn't want to get Mikasa in trouble, so you lied. "I was bored so I started wandering around and I um I stumbled upon this place. I'm sorry, I had no clue you made it." You lowered your head and fumbled with your fingers.

"Tch, I don't care if your up here. You're the quietest brat here." He said in his usual bored tone.

"Thank you.. I guess."

"How's the view?"

You looked back to the sky and smiled. "It's gorgeous. The stars  look brighter from up here."

"Yea, they do."

"Sir?"

"Levi."

You looked at him shocked. "What?"

"You can call me Levi when no one's around."

So you gave it a try. "Ok, uh L- Levi?"

"Hmm?"

"Is it always this beautiful up here?"

He thought for a moment. "No."

"How come?" You tilted your head in confusion.

"Because there's something up here that's way more beautiful than all of those stars combined." He said in a bit of a more soft tone.

"What would that be?"

"You."

You turned your head to him quickly and started to say something, but was cut off by his lips meeting yours. It was a soft and gentle kiss, but also very passionate. When he pulled away he still had his hands on either side of your face and stared into your (e/c) eyes. "I love you." He whispered so quietly that it was almost impossible for you to hear.

"I love you too, Levi."

Best day off ever.
