The next day was a surprise. It began as usual, Niall pulled me out of my capsule, but then, when I arrived at my table, food was there. I stared in awe at the rare pleasure.
"What is this?" I asked, not taking my eyes off of the food. I walked up to it and gently touched it.
"Its food. Eat." Niall answered, surprisingly without a sarcastic tone.
I picked up a piece, and shoved it in my mouth. I swallowed eagerly wanting more. I didn't realize how hungry I was until I actually ate. I quickly devoured the meal, not caring what I actually ate. I sat up on the table with a sigh. I finally have a content stomach. It wasn't enough to make me full, but it did satisfy my hunger. Niall took the plate and walked away with it, and came back. The medicine had worn off last night, but for some reason, I still felt brave.
"Thank you." I said to him. I looked down sheepishly. I could hear him pause, not knowing what to say.
"For what?" He finally responded. I looked up and made eye contact with him.
"The food." He quickly looked down.
"Well, that's my job. That's what I get paid for." It was quiet for a while, Niall was jotting down observations, and I was thinking.
"What exacctly is it that you get paid for?" I began swinging my legs, while watching him write.
He didn't even look up. "Testing things like you. Things that shouldn't be alive. Mishaps." That took me back slightly, while I got enough courage to speak up.
"I'm a person too. I'm not a thing. Im only different because I have powers, that's the only difference between us. I live, breathe, and eat just like you do. I live on earth just like you. I have parents...just like you do." My voice began to crack but I quickly cleared my throat.
"The whole time ive been here, you always tell me how worthless I am. How I don't deserve to be alive. But I do. We are so similar, we are almost the same."
"But you have powers." he spoke up angrily.
"Do you think I want these powers! Do you think it was my choice? Because it wasn't!"
"But you are different! You are not normal!" He began shouting.
"Yes I am! I'm normal just like you!" I shouted back, but my voice got softer.
"I'm a human, just like you." He didn't answer back, which angered me, so I pushed past him and went to my capsule. I began talking to myself.
"I don't deserve this. I'm a human. I deserve the same rights others do. I'm normal. I'm human." Fire raged inside me at how ignorant every single person in here was. They wouldn't like to be treated this way! I shouldn't be treated this way! An all too familiar ball of heat and energy whelmed inside of me, threatening to explode. It kept building and building. I scrunched into a small ball on the floor, until the ball inside of mereached its full point. I let the ball explode, leaving my body, destroying he capsule. I stared in awe. My powers have been greatly diminished since i have been in here, but for a split second, they were stronger. I quickly got up and ran, out of my capsule, out of the room I had been in for so long, and down an unfamiliar hallway. I could hear screams and shouts behind me, but I ran as fast as my feet would take me. I ran down many hallways, lined with doors, I ran and ran until hands grabbed my arms. Pulling me backwards. I lashed against them, I shouted and screamed, tears pouring down my face. Freedom was so close, and I ruined it. Mad, that's what I am. That was my last thought before complete darkness overwhelmed me.
