Patrick lays down next to her on his side and gazes at her thoughtfully. Lucy closes her eyes so she can focus on the task at hand.

"This is a little hard with you staring at me, Patrick," Lucy sighs and opens her eyes.

"Sorry," he mumbles and rolls to his back.

Lucy looks up at the ceiling, "Well, I was born in New York City but after my mom divorced my father she moved us to Boston and I've been living there since. My life was pretty uneventful until after high school. During college I met Brent and we dated for four years, but then he, well, you know... I've known Emma since kindergarten, but we weren't always friends. We only got close after her little brother died 10 years ago."

"Don't stop," Patrick says softly and intertwines our fingers between us.

"Well, my favorite color is purple, I love cats and I can play a few instruments, not nearly as good as you though. I've always had a dream of going to Italy, but haven't gotten to it yet."

"What did you major in?"

"Journalism, and I write for a newspaper back home. Nothing big though."

Patrick rolls back onto his side and scrutinizes Lucy. She closes her eyes and lays still. He notes that her roots are showing and they're a dark brown, the freckles that sprinkle her cheeks, the scars most likely from acne, and how her lips have a small gap. His gaze travels down to her collarbone and his breath hitches, 'She's so beautiful.'

Lucy opens her eyes and matches Patrick's gaze, "Hey," she whispers.

"You're beautiful," he replies.

Her breath hitches and she stares back into his eyes. "You're handsome," she responds.

Patrick blushes, "Not me, but I'm serious. You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

"Flattery will get you everywhere, Mr. Stump."

'Just kiss her!' he thinks as he looks down at her luscious lips. She notices and bites her lip. He leans down slowly and traces the triangles the freckles make on her cheeks. Lucy runs her hand up Patrick's arm and tangles it into his hair, pulling him closer. Patrick closes his eyes and leans so close he can taste her breath on his lips.

"Hey guys! Do you want to...? Oh, shit! Sorry!" Pete says as he walks in and once noticing them on the bed turns around.

Patrick flops onto his back with a sigh and Lucy covers her mouth to hide her smile.

"Great timing, Pete," Patrick mutters as he stands up.

"Sorry, man, I didn't realize."

"Whatever. What did you want anyway?" Patrick asks, smirking when he sees Lucy giggling and hiding her face in a pillow.

"I just wanted to know if you guys wanted to go out for food. Emma and the other two are starving."

Patrick starts pushing Pete towards the door. "Sure, we'll be out in a few minutes."

Pete nods and closes the door quickly after him. Patrick kneels on the floor in front of Lucy, who is still convulsing with giggles. "What is so funny, Missy?"

She peeks at him from behind the pillow, "Well, when I'm embarrassed, I giggle. It helped that you had the most adorable expression ever when he came bursting in!"

He shakes his head and stands up, offering his hand to assist her off the bed. 'Stupid Pete. Ruined a perfect moment,' he thinks bitterly. Lucy gives him a kiss on the cheek and steals his hat off the dresser before running out the door.
