"Emma, come on we don't want to be late!" Lucy shouts as she runs towards the amphitheater.
"I don't know how you can run in wedges!" Emma replies laboriously.
Lucy laughs, "I'm excited to see Patrick!"
Lucy jumps over one of the cement dividers in the parking lot before slowing down so Emma could catch up.
"You...owe...me," Emma says, trying to catch her breath.
"Hey, just think about Joe. He's going to be backstage waiting for you and it's your dream come true."
With that she perks up a bit and the two girls walk the rest of the way. When they get to the VIP parking section Lucy stops. She doesn't know whose bus is whose.
"You take that one on the right and I'll take the left and we'll meet at the middle one?" Emma suggests.
Lucy nods and starts walking towards the right one. She can hear laughter as she approaches the door. She timidly knocks and Pete opens the door.
"Oh, hey, Luc, if you're looking for Patrick he's in the middle bus."
"Thanks, Pete," Lucy starts to turn away, suddenly very anxious.
"Hey! Why don't you meet Paramore? Haley is dying to meet you," Pete leans against the doorframe.
"Actually, I'd like to see Patrick first, but I will be back... Promise."
Pete nods, "No biggie. You'll meet them sooner or later."
Lucy waves to him as she rushes to the middle bus. The door opens before she can knock.
"Hey, Lucy, here to see Patrick?" Andy teases.
"Yes, I mean no, I mean I'm here to see all of you, but, Patrick is always nice to see," Lucy blushes. 'Way to get flustered.'
Andy just laughs and holds the door open for her. She mutters a thanks as she walks past him. As soon as she walks in she can hear a guitar being strummed from the back of the bus.
"Where's Emma?" Joe asks from the couch.
"She's probably still at the New Politics's bus."
Joe rushes out the door and Andy sighs, "He's a little moonstruck over your friend."
"I hadn't noticed," Lucy teases.
"You can go to the back. Patrick's back there writing music," he motions to the door leading to the back room.
"Oh, thanks, Andy," Lucy says as she heads that way.
When she reaches the back she sees Patrick sitting with sheet music scattered all around him. She knocks on the doorframe. He looks up at her and grins.
"Hey, Lucy, sorry I'm in the middle of something but you can join me if you'd like," he starts clearing a spot next to him.
Lucy sits down and watches him write chords. 'This man is a genius.' She thinks as the music flows from his fingertips to the page. After a few minutes Patrick puts his guitar down and kisses Lucy on the forehead.
"I'm glad you came early."
"Of course! I could barely handle Emma; she was so excited for tonight."
"Aren't you excited?"
"Of course I'm excited... mostly nervous though."
"Don't be, Lucy, everyone is going to love you," Patrick pulls her closes and holds her.
Lucy smiles softly and kisses his jaw. They sit there in silence listening to each other's breathing. A soft knock on the doorframe startles them.
"Patrick, it's time for sound check," Andy says quietly before leaving.
