I was born into this world long ago. Back when Yellowstone park was first established in 1872. I came into this world with littermates who were fairly normal. We were born to a grey wolf who called herself Luna. She had once told me, my father had been a lone rogue wolf. She told me how different he was from most wolves, how intelligent and brave he had been. Luna told me I smelt mostly of him, how his gifts would be carried down through me. At the time I had no clue what she meant. For I was just a small pup, with no cares worries except when I would get mothers sweet milk next. Or which pup would win the game where we would tug a stick between us.

Then the day came where all the other pups aged past their prime and mother became old. And I stayed in the prime of life. I aged so much slower then the others and after I hit my prime, I had my first transformation. It was... Unusual. When I woke I had human paws and no fur. Instead of teats on my underbelly I had the things I'd seen on human women, on my chest.  My claws were gone and in their place were fragile human ones.

Years passed by and I watched generations of my own family pass away. First my mother Luna, then my litter mates. I watched their kin thrive and then die.

I spent most of my time in my own den, alone. Without a mate. For I was stronger then any regular wolf and had no desire to mate with one who was lesser then I. Hunting alone was no problem, not when you're a hair bit faster then your prey, and when my jaws crushed bone as easy as I'd seen the humans weapons pierce flesh.

Months turned into years, years turned into decades, and still I hadn't met anyone like myself. As time went by I discovered more creatures that were unusual like my own self, but never a wolf shifter. At one point I met a bear who could be either human or animal. But he had no desire to share his territory with another predator.

As humans began to destroy the land, and my den was lost in human construction I started to live partially as a human. Learning their ways and their off language.
