The Kingdom of Vasíleio: The Beginning

Chapter 1: My Jungle

I opened my eyes to a bright early morning and like always my eyes saw my home; my jungle. I took a step closer to the edge of the waterfall, the wind running through my hair. I took a deep breath, I slowly backed up, and then suddenly I was running, my feet carrying me faster and faster until I launched myself off the edge and down towards the water.

My body plummeting towards the glistening water that laid beneath me. I hit the water with a mighty splash, my body being swallowed whole, I touch the floor and push up towards the surface. I resurface and take a deep gasp for air.

I swim over to the edge, as my feet touch the bottom I start to walk out of the water. My clothes dripping wet, my long black hair sticking to my body. My ears started to twitch as my tail started to sway around my body.

I gave myself a quick shake and walked with a jump in my step. I stop at the foot of a tree and start to climb, my sharp claws digging into the bark, I keep climbing until I reach the top. I lean my back against the trunk and close my eyes.

I'm about to drift to sleep when I hear a soft giggle, I smile to myself, knowing exactly who it is. My eyes suddenly open as a little girl lands in my lap, she starts laughing, I pinch her cheeks "you know it's not nice to sneak up on your sister, Shelia" I sigh playfully, she continues to giggle "I know Tani, but I saw you do your awesome jump and I wanted you to teach me" oh sweet child you are so young "maybe later, but we need to get you back, to the tribe, isn't it way past your nap time" I say teasingly as I poke her nose

She looks at me and whines "no it's not, I'm nearly 6 so that makes me a big girl" I laugh at her innocence and jump down, of the branch. I land on the ground with a thud and my sister follows after.

I pick her up and place her on my shoulders "you ready" I say grinning up at her, she lets out a scream of excitement "YES!" I laugh as I start to sprint deeper into the heart of the jungle.
