Today is the day when Brendon's fate will be decided. Dallon is happy for the boy but he hates his part in all of this. He has to act like there is no mutual friendship between the, let alone whatever they have. He has to haul him in there, not say a word and watch what becomes of his friend."Ready Bren? The older asks almost automatically. The younger is beaming as Dallon has to handcuff him and get ready to take him before the judge. He has a sinking feeling that either way, Brendon's not going to come out with that sheepish grin. He doesn't seem to realize that there is a chance he can still be found guilty.
------
"All rise" a voice boomed. Everyone stood while the judge came out of his side office. His little mallet thing (what are those called?! This is a serious question guys!) hit the block and everyone sat."We're all here today in the reopening of the case on Mr. Urie against the state of Nevada" the strawberry blonde judge states. Dallon knew that Pete was good friends with him, very good friends, if ya know what I mean. He thinks his name is Patrick, not quite positive though.
"Now Mr. Urie, can you explain to us where you were and what happened that day?" It was kind of obvious Pete had filled Patrick in on the boy but it was probably only to the officer.
"Well y-you see your honor, I had just gotten off of school and I was going to hang out with some of my best friends at the time. I was in the car with Mr Ryan Ross before it happened and..." Brendon gets inturupted by judge Stump. "How do we know this Mr. Ross isn't still out there doing something?" He asks a bit sceptically. By the look on the boy's face, that's when it hit him. This wasn't going to be as easy as he thought.
"H-he's dead sir " the boy whispers on the verge of tears. "Please speak up Mr Urie " a lawyer on the other side says rudely. "Now now Mr walker, let him have some time." Judge Stump shoots back defensively. "He's dead and I was convicted of murdering him. That's how we know he's not still out there your honor" the younger retorts, louder this time. "Thank you, proceed lad." The higher proceeds.
The boy finishes his story, shaking fairly hard by the end. He takes his seat back by Dallon and the officer has to give it all he has to not just hug the boy until he feels better.
-----------
"I think we have some pretty obvious proof that this can be traced back to Mr. Harrison. You see, we had our experts trace the gun serial number back to the owner, this was Mr. Harrison. We asked the supplier if he had bought it and he said this information was true. The only thing we can really trace back to Mr. Urie on all of this gun is some of the finger prints. On the other hand, we were able to find a few of Mr. Harrison's as well. This crime was almost entirely framed to put Mr. Urie here in jail, we don't know why exactly but we are almost positive it is correct, can you confirm Mr. Harrison?" Oh there was no way out of this one.The man nods slowly, keeping his head low. "I said can you confirm this information Mr. Harrison?" Judge Stump says with much more time in his voice. "Yes your honor. I did it." He replies, no regret in his words what. So. Ever.
"Looks like it's settled then. Your sentencing will be what Mr. Urie was sentenced to, plus a year for framing a minor. We will get Mr. Urie out and back to his rightful home while you rot your horrible days away in Prison. Please, take this monster where the State of Nevada will never have to see him again!" Judge Stump concludes.
The guards immediately take him out and into the transport van.
After the court is dismissed and everyone has left, Patrick makes his way over to the two. "I'm so so sorry that happened bud. I'm so glad we got the real monster into jail and we're getting a new beginning out." Brendon blushes at the complement. "I-I just hate violence. I don't care about the jail thing." Brendon responds confidentially. "Just what I like to hear!" The judge pats the boys shoulder before heading back into his side office.
"How does it feel to be a free man Urie?" Dallon asks jokingly on the way back. "Feels good Mr. Weekes. I guess this whole thing was a bit of a blessing in disguise though." The younger responds. "How so?" Dallon asks confused by the whole thing. "If it weren't for this, I wouldn't have ever met you!" Brendon concludes. There's that damn flutter in Dallon's heart again!
