Chapter 20 - Death's Final Toll

*Rainbow Dash's P.O.V.* Alucard and I made our way towards our army and stopped to gaze around at the men and women who began preparing themselves for the final push of the war, in what i believe would be the strongest force ever conjured together over a banner of hope, i had hopes we could take the castle and finish this once and for all.

"Ahem, ladies and gentlemen, a word with you all!" they all stopped what they were doing and turned to face alucard and I.

I flew up to make the announcement a little easier "I'm afraid you all will not be moving forward in the final push on sombra's castle, too many lives at stake and i wish to retain casualties to a minimum, so for your safety and the hopes of your families, I want only five willing and able soldiers to present themselves for the final push, that is all." i flew back down and a small laughter broke out among the group.

"What is so funny?" i asked as one of them spoke out "We're in this to save equestria crash, even if you told us there'd be gold bars waiting for us at home we wouldn't leave your side!" i knew that voice all too well, captain of the wonderbolts, and commanding officer of the 7th battalion, spitfire.

i shook my head "you are all just too stubborn to get rid of, well, then let's do this, but on the order that when we reach sombra's throne room, alucard and I will take him on alone, i don't want any of you to face his raw power and die trying to fight for what we believe in."

they looked among each other and collectively agreed to follow that order "then what are we waiting for, we've got a war to win!" i threw up my fist and they all followed suit with rifles, masks and pieces of armor.

"Let's Move out!" i began moving towards the castle and they followed as we took march towards the castle's front gate.

babump babump babump babump, my heart was beating from the excitement of their eagerness to end this, and the fear of losing them all to any of sombra's tricks.

we got closer and closer to the castle's doors, when the ground began to shake and quake with strange patterns of stomps, then they appeared, crystal golem's, the size of my house and bigger, each one wielding some form of club either spiked or not, it shot me with fear that my army wouldn't be able to handle this, till i heard the faint whistling of bombshells falling from the sky.

i looked up in time to see several air to land missles strike the golem's in every which way, they started to crumble and fall apart, but when the barrage halted they still stood in pieces.

i expected them to fall to the ground but i heard screams of pain coming from my soldiers, and when i turned i saw anyone that picked up crystal armor now had spikes protruding from their bodies, causing them to explode and the crystal pieces flying towards the golem's and repairing them back to size.

they began marching back towards us and i looked around, my army now quaking in their boots, except a select few who stood tall and valorious, ready for what was to come when AJ yelled from the back "get yer stones out of your boots and start shootin ya thin skinned wussies!" she pulled out a big rifle and started shooting which incited my soldiers to shoot as well, then i felt a hand on my shoulder "Dash, you need to go, we can handle the golem's, just get to that throne room" it was alucard.

i looked back towards my friends, my wife, all shooting at the golem's who started to surround us on all sides, then i turned back to alucard, nodded and took flight for the throne room window, which was the obvious one stained glass window with a depiction of sombra wielding a crystal sword and a gun.

i sped up, if i was to break through without getting hurt i'd have to go fast enough to cause a sonic rainboom, no, a double sonic rainboom, so i kept flying up till gravity took hold, then i went for a dive.
