For Granted

28 4 3

What's a heartbeat worth
if there is no heart
for the rhythm inside?

What happens to a soul
when the vessel it lived in
suddenly dies?

What happens to our minds
if our brains suddenly
stopped thinking?

For the simple things
we take to heart
could easily be pumped away

And our souls
no matter how old they may be
could suddenly just leave us behind

And our minds may suddenly
stop working and
we loose everything we once loved.

But what are we to think such things?
For one day they will be no more
Everything we once took for granted
Are what we need most in the end
And we let them slip through our cold, dead, fingers

What things we take for granted.
And what things we shall never receive again.
