Prologue
The Truth
As I wonder the cold corridors of a house that had long been forgotten, a sudden thought began to group inside my head. Why was I still here when my family members were long gone?. Why was I condemned to walk these corridors for the rest of my eternal life?. Well... My family was a powerful, ruthless yet honourable VanBisson's, I was the youngest of three, in fact the whole family, forced to do what ever my siblings told me to. One day I had had enough, and planned a desperate bid for freedom. On one dark, and peaceful night, I finally decided I wanted a life of my own, free from the low expectations of my family members and the freedom to do whatever I wished.
I waited till midnight when the house would be at its quietest, my clothes were packed and my most prized possessions were packed along side them inside the biggest bag I owned. I crept out of my uncomfortably small bed room and out onto the landing. Everything was going well until I noticed the living room lamp was on, which was strange, as all lights were supposed to be out before ten o'clock. My curiosity was always stronger than common sense and getting the better of me, drew me closer and closer to the finely polished oak door. I was close enough to make out an iron table with shackles on all four corners and a man or woman dressed in black from head to toe stood by the fire place. I was unable to tell who it was as the cloak covered it's face.
I remember panicking, thinking of what to do, do I tell my eldest sibling Vandahmeer?, or do I go straight to Ma and Papa?. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed the dark figure move towards the door, it was only until a cold hand had covered my mouth that I realised my mistake.
I was dragged into the living room with his or her had clamped upon my mouth as they shut the door behind us, I was then thrown on to the iron table... The air rushed right out of my lungs, and sudden burst of pain began to spread from the back of my head and a wave of dizziness began to take its toll. I was vaguely aware of my hands being shackled above my head and legs being tied to the bottom of the cold iron table.
" I have been waiting.....you will become.....you stupid vagabond" was all I could make out, as my head spun with dizziness, and my ears were throbbing painfully and filling with blood. After, what felt like hours, my vision began to return to me just in time to see two pairs of hands tighten around my throat. I struggled helplessly against the bonds around my limbs, my breath rattled in my throat as darkness started to seep in." Please stop, is what your trying to say " it said with a mocking laugh, enjoying the pleasure of strangling me. " You have bothered me for the last time". It's hands tightened around my throat, I gave a strangled scream, choking on the blood trickling down the side of my mouth, my actions were becoming weaker and weaker. The pounding in my head began to slow down as my heart beat began to slow, slowing yet again, and then coming to a complete halt.
The next thing I knew I was standing in what looked like my bedroom, feeling a little dazed and confused as every thing was covered in a thick layer of dust. I ran out on to the landing, only to be greeted by the same layer of dust and cob webs. I checked every room in the house, but everything was the same. Finally I gave up on my search and returned to the confinements of my room. I cried and cried, and prayed begging for an answer, but none came. As I sat there with my hands clasped together, I noticed how pale and white they were and.... transparent, in fact everything about me was pale and almost.... ghostly.
Since that day I have been wondering these long and empty corridors of the once proud VanBisson Manor House, vouching, that I will not rest until I find out what exactly happened on the day of my 15Th birthday. I never saw the features of my killer, but his voice still haunts my thoughts.
