Chapter 5
To Tell Or Not To Tell
That Is The Question?
Her eyes became soft and tender, just like her painting. All I could actually do was look at her. I still didn't trust her, considering she almost killed me a few minutes ago. " I'm really, really sorry for trying to kill you." I wasn't sure whether or not to say something or just lie there in her arms. " Umm... you can speak now, only if you promise not to scream." still unsure, I decided it was best just to nod. So I nodded. Slowly, ever so slowly, I began to sit up. Quickly she placed her hand on my chest and pushed me back down. " Sorry, but you have had a bit of shock, plus your neck is bruised.... may I?" She slowly reached for my throat, instinctively my hands flew up to protect it. She with drew her hands, hurt. " Please don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you " This some how felt reassuring. Surprisingly I began to lower my hands. Again, slowly she began to reach for my neck. Ever so gently she placed both her hands on each side of my neck. What happened next was a blur, her hands began to glow in that same white that had drawn me to her the last time. My breathing began to quicken, afraid she will become angry again.
Just as quickly as they had lit up, her hands returned to their normal transparent selves. Realising It was over, I reached up to feel my now not so saw neck, amazingly the swelling I had felt increasing had disappeared, in fact my breathing was allot better, it didn't feel like there was something blocking it. " Th..thank you" I said. She gracefully bowed her head in answer. " Are you strong enough to sit up." she asked sounding truly concerned. " I...I think so." Gently she released her grip around my shoulders, and helped me to sit upright. Now back against the wall, I began to shiver again. " Wh...what do you wh..want from me." I asked, as scared as hell. " Nothing. Look I understand your scared but theres no need to be. I'm really, really sorry. I mean it." She really did sound sorry and I suddenly feel guilty for saying those things. " I'm Alex." I said, desperate to change the subject. " Nice to meet you Alex. " " Are ymmmmph" What is it with her and the mouth covering. "sssshhh. I can hear something." I could hear it now, the sound of Maroony and John's voice. Sandra at least I think it was her name turned her attention back to me bring her face inches from mine, hand still plastered against my mush. Jeeezzzz. " My name is Sandra VanBisson, I'm the youngest of three as I'm sure you already know." she was speaking in a rash whisper, Sandra leaned in closer, so close, that her elegant nose was practically touching mine " Heed my warning, Alex, its up to you whether you tell them or not, but I doubt they will believe you. But you will suffer the consequences."
Suddenly her whole figure started to evaporate into what looked like fog " Remember Alex Copperfield." Those were the last words I heard before she diasappeared completely. Without a second thought, I got to my feet and ran as fast as I could back to the Baron's study. Her last words had got me thinking how on earth did she know my full name?.
