Piper POV:
So it starts. The journey that I know for sure will be a long one. Leo’s magic compass kicks in and takes us across the Atlantic. It’s been six long hours since we’ve seen a monster. I had taken first watch, now it was my turn to sleep. I finally crashed just in time to be woken up by the roar of a monster. I knew the peace couldn’t last for long.
“What is it?” I asked. This monster looked almost like a whale, but with four feet. It was grey all around, but its breath smells like Pegasus dung. I wish Percy was here to maybe calm in down.
“Leo! Give it a few breath mints, will ya?” I yelled. I took out my knife and got ready for battle. The only bad part was that I couldn’t really stand on a dragon that was about 500 feet above the water and we couldn’t just fly away because, well, it was in front of us. Suddenly, the ground (I know, I know, we are above the ocean. Bear with me hear) start shaking below me and there was a platform that came out of Festus’s body. Leo thinks of everything, doesn’t he?
“How do you like it? I thought we might run into some monsters throughout our journey. Just like old times, eh?” Leo shouted over the roar of the monster. We were close enough to the monster now. Oh! I remember what it was called, it was a Cetus. I don’t think these are supposed to be here anymore. They were all thrown into Tartarus. No, no, I can’t let that go to my head. First we have to get rid of this monster.
Jason was already out there, fighting for his life. He was so hot fighting and almost dying, just ugh! Okay, Piper, focus. Leo was already getting tired producing flames. Man that could really tire a person out. Now it was my turn. I run forward with my knife, ready to stab. Jason had it distracted all I had to do was-
Right then and there, the monster turned around and looked straight at me. Can my day get any worse? Well I still charged at it, but this time I was the distraction. I charged straight at the monster with my dagger and while it was distracted, Jason was running up behind it, for a surprise attack. I was just about to reach the monster when it designated into gold dust falling on top of me. I saw Jason pulling himself up from the platform where he had almost fallen. I rushed over to help him get up. When he was up I gave him a quick peck on the lips. We were exhausted, but happy and alive.
“Great job, Jason,” I said with a smile. Leo was obviously happy that his platform invention worked.
“Well, we better get moving,” Leo said with a huff. Once all three of us were on the dragon, the platform started to curl up and go into the body of the dragon. Since it was still my turn to sleep, I went back feeling the warmth of Jason’s chest against my head.
*Several Hours Later*
“Wake up, Piper, wake up!” Jason was shaking me awake. The sun had set and the stars were shining.
“We’re arriving at the most dangerous part of the sea. The seas of the sirens,” Leo had said. Gods was I scared.
“We are all going to need wax to fill our ears with. We can’t hear a word that they say, or we’ll be sucked in. Everyone grab a piece.” Leo brought out the wax. First he put enough in his ear, then I put enough in my ear, but Jason only had enough for one ear.
“It’s okay, I’ll just plug my finger into the other finger,” he said.
“Jason, I don’t really think that’s a good idea…” I remarked nervously.
“I’ll be fine, Pipes. It’s okay.” I didn’t buy it, but I could see that Jason wasn’t going to change his mind, so I let it slide. I tried not to think to negative about what might happen.
We rode into the night, not daring to go to sleep. Suddenly, there was an aura coming from afar. I saw Jason with one finger deep inside his ear. Then I saw them; the Sirens were ugly creatures with beautiful faces and horrendous bodies. Their face turned into everyone I loved, but was going by fairly quickly. First there was Jason, then dad, then Leo, the list could go on and on, but one look at their body and you just want to barf. I force myself not to look at them.
I pulled in closer to Jason. Then he did something that I never thought would have happened. He took both his hands and put them on mine. He realized one of his hands wasn’t in his finger and look at me in horror. Quickly I put my finger in his ear, but by then it was too late. He shoved me off, unbuckled, and jumped off Festus, swimming toward the Sirens. I could register what was happening.
“JASON! NOO! JASON COME BACK HERE NOW! JASON!!!!!” I screeched at the top of my lungs. I couldn’t breathe, I wanted to cry. “JASON!” I screamed into the starry night.
