"Alright, this is not okay. Nope, I'm not alright with this. At all. Whatsoever." My rant went on and on. I found out that for the whole year, my new science partner was going to be my bully from last year. Great, now he can make snide remarks and rude comments on everything I do.

"Hush Juliet, no switching. You have to be his partner or fail the class." My science teacher, Mrs. Parker said. I couldn't fail this class, it was a high school credit. I sighed and looked down, nodding my head.

"Okay Mrs. Parker." I sat down next to Braiden as I felt his eyes on me. His stupid judgemental eyes.

"Would you stop it?" I quietly hiss at him as I turned around to look at him. The 3 sneak peeks I took over the past half an hour proved me right, that he was staring.

"Maybe you should just shut up and listen to the teacher, emo devil worshipper." He glared at me as I rolled my eyes. Finally the bell rang, meaning I have English next. I quickly stood up, grabbing my books and backpack as I bolted from the classroom and up the stairs. I was sick of seeing Braiden and just needed a break. I had no friends in any of my classes so far. But then again, it was only the start of 3rd period.

I felt eyes on me as I sat down at a seat on the far side of the classroom. Ms. Trey silenced the class as I looked around. I found a wandering pair of blue eyes reach my grey ones. My eyes went wide when I knew who it was. It was Sam. The guy from last year I had a crush on. I still thought he was attractive, but I thought he went to a specially smart school. One I could never get into because of my grades last year.

"Alright class, we're going to be put into groups for our To Kill A Mockingbird unit. I have chosen the groups and they are up on the screen." She said as she turned the screen on. I looked up at the bright sscreen and searched for my name. There I was, with Sam, Brianna, Jewell, and Hayden. I groaned internally as I looked over to which table we'd be sitting at. The back middle one, of course. I stood up, grabbing my new backpack that was light blue and covered in white feathers.

"I like your shirt." Sam smirked at me as he sat across from me. I gulped and said a quiet 'thanks' before turning my head down towards my t-shirt. It had in big white letters, "AUSTIN CARLILE OR DIE."

"Okay, today we'll be playing a game to get to know your table mates better. I looked around my table as Jewell and Hayden were talking quietly amongst themselves and Brianna was fiddling with her owl necklace and Sam was staring at Ms. Trey. "First I need you to pick a partner at your table."

Sam looked directly at me and smiled warmly. I couldn't help but smile back, it was too contagious. "Wanna be my partner?" He asked quietly as Ms. Trey continued talking. I nodded in response and tried to listen to the teacher before she let us go off and do our thing. I looked back to Sam before asking, "Wait, what are we supposed to be doing?"

"I'll show you." He smiled and sat down next to me.
