A weeks later, Shaun's popularity skyrocketed. Apparently our school scouted him once but he rejected as at that time, as his family stayed right across the country. Now, people called him the rising ace. Ever since he entered football, people crowd over him. Girls scream wherever he's around.
And he has been hanging out with Casandra's clique more often. What can I say? People from the soccer and cheer team are like destined mates. Casandra is dating the quarterback of the soccer team, Caleb. Coincidental much?
Every English class, he never fails to greet me good morning. Flashing that charming smile and husky voice while walking to his seat. Being a kind person I am, I replied him with a good morning.
Even in biology, we sit beside each other. Mr McSkin asked us to draw lots, I was fine with it as I don't have any friends in this class. After we got our results, many girls went up to me, begging to exchange mine with them.
Desperate much? I don't mind anyway.
"No exchange is allowed. Everyone proceed to your assigned seat." Mr McSkin voice boomed across the classroom. Many grumblings could be heard while they shifted to their seats.
"Guess I'm with you? Do guide me along Amanda." Shaun bumped his shoulder against mine. I grunted back.
"Don't ever think of changing seat secretly. Anyway, let's start class." Mr McSkin summarised the previous chapters that we've learnt throughout the past few weeks. When I glanced at Shaun, I almost laughed at his expression.
Lost. He is so lost. It's written all over his face. His notes are filled with scribbles.
Poor soul
RINGS
"Lastly, there is a project you guys need to do. It is a pair work and it's to be submitted to me in hard copy by the next lesson."
"Oh Amanda, I need you to teach Shaun on the previous topics since you are the top scorer in my class. He will need to take a class test by the end of this month."
End of this month? There's only 2 weeks left till the end of August!
"Mr McSkin, can we- "
"Nope, you still have to submit your group project. It wouldn't be fair for others." Mr McSkin walked out.
As if it is fair for me?!
"So... top scorer? I'll be in your care." Shaun smirked and walked out.
What have I gotten myself into? Well at least now, it's lunch time. I quickly packed my bag and ran out to find Amy. There's just so much I have to tell her.
The cafeteria is as noisy as usual, but the spotlight is always on the soccer and cheer team. Can't they just make a normal entrance? I went to my usual lunch spot and wait for Amy to arrive.
"Hi Amanda? What's with the long face?" Suddenly I was grabbed into a death crushing hug. Even so, I miss this hug a lot.
"Many things happened. I don't even know where to start." I took out my lunch, fried rice with edamame, too tired to talk to Amy.
"Is it about the new dude?" Amy pointed towards the direction of where the football team seated. Of course, Shaun is with them.
"Something like that... Just let me enjoy my lunch peacefully."
"WOAH!!!!" A scream was heard across the cafeteria. I turned to the direction of the sound and I can't believe what I just saw.
Shaun kissing. Shaun kissing a girl, firmly holding and tongue licking. Cheers erupted. It was some random cheer girl that I couldn't even care less.
Shaun glanced towards my direction and our eyes met, while shoving his tongue down her throat. I felt disgusted by his action.
I couldn't look at him any further.
"Such PDA. There's a time and place for this kind of thing but just not in the fucking school compound. Hey Amanda, you alright...?" Amy placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Ye-yeah. Shall we go? I've ate finish my meal." I quickly packed up.
Come on Amanda, you can control your expression. Come on you can do this.
"Okay... Come on, it's time for Geography."
*CLASS ENDS*
OMG yes finally it's time for band practice. I always look forward to it after every Wednesday. I miss my bandmates a lot even though we just met not long ago. It makes me feel so happy to know friends who have common hobby. I played the clarinet since I was seven. My mom couldn't afford to buy a piano but she wanted me to have some music background.
When I first saw the clarinet, I knew I wanted this. Learning the saxophone is tempting but the clarinet won my heart. My mom was reluctant because I have an history of asthma but after much persuasion, she gave in.
"Oh Amanda how much I miss you!" Samantha screamed when I opened the door. Gosh I miss being in the band room.
"AHHHHH! Samantha!" I ran over and gave her a tight hug. Samantha is my senior and she is the president of the band.
"Hello, my dear." Lucas hugged me from behind. Just take note, Lucas and I aren't dating. We have been childhood friends since middle school and we always challenge each other to do stupid stuffs. I remember the most embarrassing thing I've done was running around the school like a ninja in Naruto. We never stop giving each other sexual innuendos. The band is used to it.
"Hi Lucas, what are we doing today?" I turned around, batting my lashes. I probably look like my eyes was twitching non-stop but whatever.
"Some training on blowing and improving your stamina?" He sneered.
"Okay stop. I can't take this." Samantha separated me from Lucas's hold.
We talked among the other band members and went through our scores before our conductor, Mr Tan comes.
We are holding our annual concert coming this october and all of us are training diligently. Mr Tan even asked me if I wanted to be featured as a soloist in one of the songs.
"Yes! Of course!" I shouted. My first ever band concert and I get to play solo! Who would want to miss that?
After practice, I went to the toilet to clean my instrument. I had to pass by the school field to reach the toilet.
The football team were practicing on the field and of course, the cheer team is there. I just don't understand why do they have to design the skirts so damn short? The guys couldn't take their eyes off of them, even Shaun.
What's different about him? He's the same as the others, Amanda.
I shook my head and quickly ran to the toilet.
"Hey, what's with that long face?" Lucas asked when I returned to the room.
"Nothing just a little tired." I quickly packed up my bag and went home with Lucas. We walked to the intersection right across the school and parted ways.
"Bye Amanda, I'll see you tomorrow!" Lucas waved .
"Bye! Don't miss me!" I waved back.
