WINGS Short Film #5, REFLECTION- Theory and Hidden Secrets

Theory- After Rap Monster breaks free from himself, he blames many things that happened on himself.

Theme- Reflecting on choices, and blame.

[0:08] Cue Namjoon's elegant engrish [Do you guys take Youngjae Engrish class too?]: "The other realm, however, overlapping half out house, was completely different...a loud mixture of horrendous, intriguing, frightful, mysterious things, including slaughterhouses and prisons, drunkards and screeching fishwives, calving cows, horses sinking into their death, tales of robberies, murders and suicides." [From Hermann Hesse's novel once again.]Oh wait, doesn't this quote pretty much most of everything we talked about before AND more? OF COURSE IT DOES! This whole series of teasers are horrendous, intriguing, frightful and mysterious [-.-]. Honestly, BTS should make a horror movie or something. Other than that, we think that a slaughterhouse relates of the death or disappearance of the members. In the 'Run' MV, the members are noticeably holding red plastic cups which is of course is usually filled with alcohol, which is where we thinks drunkards fits it [Drink responsibly kids, don't wanna end up as weird as Bangtan, do you now?]. Horses sinking, huh...? I hope they don't mean J-Horse because this could relate to Jimin drowning in that infamous bathtub of his. Well, a crap ton of murders and suicides occurred from all perspectives of the BTS members, it makes sense.

[0:38] 'Reflection', huh? Y'know, maybe it could reference back to SUGA's video, 'FIRST LOVE' where the theme was on remembering. Or perhaps BTS just really likes 'Mulan'. [WHOOOO IS THAT GURL I SEE, STARING STRAIGHT, BACK AT ME, WHEN WILL MY REFLECTION SHOW, WHO I AMMMMMMM, INSIDDEEEEEEEEE!]

[0:47] Oh! Lookie here kids, it's Namjoon! And what is he doing? Just opening a letter WITH THE SAME DAMN SYMBOL THAT JUNGKOOK HAD AND THE SAME IMAGE OF THE BIRD IN IT. Which is shown at [1:01] for y'all that didn't know. The letter was obviously sent from Jungkook to Namjoon. We thought that maybe Jungkook wants all the members to gain freedom from their own realities and all meet in the real world using their own wings. [We know this is crazay, you don't need to spell it out for us.] But how did the letter get to Namjoon if they are stuck in their own realms?

[0:52] Rap Monster has a tattoo on his right arm which reads "B0612 + R.MS". Does it look familiar to anyone? Anyone remember the photoshoot BTS had for their "2015 BTS LIVE TRILOGY: EPISODE I. BTS BEGINS" event? 'BEGINS', it's in the title yet no one noticed. Not only that, but in the photoshoot Jungkook had the same exact tattoo also on the right arm but instead it read: " B0612 + JKS". [*mind blown O.O]. But what does it mean? Through speculation we think that 0612 could be their debut day, June 12th. What the B or S means, we have no clue. [I guess you could say that it's BS. No? Ok.]

[0:58] A bird flying over a red backdrop with trees. The exact same scene occurred in Jungkook's teaser. Rap Mon's really involved with Jungkook aren't they?

[0:59] So Rap Monster starts to tattoo himself... AGAIN. Yes, again. He tattooed himself in the 'Danger' MV as well, somehow on the exact same arm. He tattoos the picture of the bird he received form Jungkook [RapMon taking Jungkook's dream on being a tattoo artist one step at a time].

[1:09] Leader-Mon lights the picture on fire [INFIRES!], places it in a cup of water, drinks it, and collapses. [WTF Rap Mon] Does he burn the picture to retreat, is he giving up the thought of freedom? Not only that, but Rap Mon burning the image looks visually similar to Jimin burning a piece of paper in his cozy bath tub in the 'I NEED U' MV. Does Jimin receive the letter as well? This supports our theory of Jungkook wanting to free his friends from their own realities, but does this lead to a new theory of Jungkook being the only one to know about all the members being a dream? It could be a possibility since we theorized earlier that the painting that Jungkook painted were all the members combined.

[1:21] More lyrics to decipher, hoorah! "지금 거올속에 누가 보여" translates to "Who do you see in the mirror?"

[1:23] Illegible text appears on Rap Mon's rainbow arms. [We want rainbow arms too, we'll just use some paint.] We all have knowledge of rainbows appearing because of light reflection and all that jazz. We talked a lot about BTS members being each other's light. Rainbows usually have 7 seven colours, or at least that's what we're told as kids. 1 colour for each member creating something beautiful. [BTS is pretty hot, you gotta admit.] Rainbow bridges are also used in fairy tales [Did you guys watch Barbie and the Diamond Castle? Pretty epic movie.], we think that it could mean BTS workings together to make it to the realm of reality. BUT WHAT IS REALITY?! IS THERE ONE AT ALL?

[1:28] Alright, glass breaks, nothing that's not expected from the god of destruction. Next, we can see writing written on some glass, which is pretty freaking hard to see since it's only clear for like, half a second. However, we're able to see that the words are: "살아남아야 한다," which means 'to survive' but others may argue and say 'we must survive'. Survive what? This ain't "The Walking Dead". Surviving has a lot to do with freedom, the main theme in Jimin's video, "LIE". One must free him/herself from his/her head to survive. Without breaking away from your mind, you can't live life.

[1:40] Rap Monster stands up to realize that he is in a hallway of mirrors. Hence the title, REFLECTION. Mirrors play a huge part in this, doesn't it? Hobi was really involved with mirrors too, he dances in front of a large mirror in the 'Danger' MV, he stares himself down in the 'I NEED U' MV and also sees his own reflection in a sink of water, also in the 'I NEED U' MV. Don't worry we didn't forget about TaeTae cutting "his hair" [He ended up cutting some of his actual hair doe XD,] in front of the mirror. Mirrors and reflection is general in a big part of this theory, because of all the negative moments in each of the Bangtan boys' lives. So they must reflect on it even if they don't want to continue the process of forgiving themselves.

[1:47] As Rap Monster puts his head in his hands, the mirrors break, symbolizing that he broke out of the place where it seems like there is no escape. The fireworks represent a new beginning, or rebirth to make it fit in with this story. Like the fireworks at New Year's, these fireworks hint a fresh start after Namjoon broke free from his mind.

[2:06] Namjoon runs toward the distant sound of a phone ringing, which turns out to be not so distant as Rap Mon runs to the locked telephone booth that was in V's teaser. Let the music begin! Rap Mon tries his best to open the phone booth to answer the call but in the end failed. It was V's phone call to Rap Mon, since in the BTS prologue, V was sending a voicemail to someone who was presumably Rap Mon. Why didn't Rap Mon answer the call? We think it might be because Rap Mon didn't want to involve himself with V's crime [Rap Mon, why you being such a bad chingu?] Like it was said before Rap Mon tried to go back to the phone booth but was unable to break into it and answer the call which led to him to stand in front of it with shame. He is feeling regretful. Which leads to the song's lyrics to be sung [Quite beautifully, good job Rap Monster], which are: "I wish I could love myself.". These lyrics are repeated 4 times. Is Rap Mon feeling hatred towards himself for failing as a friend? In the duration of the song lyrics, the camera is zoomed out to reveal the word "LIAR" on the side of the booth. Rap Mon is a liar, he betrayed V. [Can this get any more depressing, *watches Hobi and Jin's teasers and drowns in tears TT^TT]

[2:52] We think many of us ARMYs already assumed that Rap Monsters circle was going to be something broken, and apparently, we were right. [Thank goodness, finally.] It's probably going to merge and....

[2:54] Yup. It's Rap Monnie x Jungkookie. A shattered circle and a hatching egg should... Nope. What. Why. BIGHIT, WHY ARE YOU MAKING THINGS SO HARD FOR US? Rap Monster x Jungkook makes a non-as-broken egg? It looks like it's fading, actually. Since Namjoon got Kookie's letter, the letter helped him disappear from his mind and 'wake up'? Aish, this is getting more and more complex.

What To Expect Next- More videos are coming and the album is coming out in October. We had a sight to where this series was headed but now, things just got soooooo complicated. -.-
