Hi my name's Becky, I don't know how to explain my current situation but I'll try my best. Right now I'm blind folded and tied to a chair in what seems like a basement. How did this happen? Well let's just say my parents have lots of enemies. I'm used to stuff like this, however it's never gotten this far. Usually my parents or people working for them come to the rescue. Since my parents are "important people" I don't see them much. I live with Jenna and Tom who work for my parents but they might as well have been mine, they have been taking care of me since I was three. I'm an only child so I'm not exactly accompanied, but I do have two best friends named Samantha ( I would be dead if she ever heard me call her that, she hates it) and of course who can forget Justin. Anyway back to the problem at hand, you know the one about me being tied to a chair. Well since I am the daughter of two "spies" (which they hate to be called) I did manage to wiggle my hands loose enough to actually move them around. I almost got them free when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs, I quickly tried to look terrified. When all of a sudden I felt a cold mental knife touch my cheek, I stiffened. This person obviously felt it because they spoke, "Becky Changtem do you know why we kidnapped you" of course being the daughter of my parents I immediately noticed what other people wouldn't have. The voice was male, about my age,16, the voice quickened when he said kidnapped. I slowly shook my head. When he got closer pushed the knife to my cheek and said, "You will soon". I winced, I could feel a few beads of blood rolling down my cheek. Once I heard the door shut I waited a few seconds to make sure he was gone and got to work. I freed my hands then took off the blindfold. The place was musty and old and...the basement of my own house. At this point I could hear yelling upstairs about what they were going to do to me and it wasn't very pretty. I could feel my pulse quicken as I untied my feet from the chair, and just like that I was free. I was smiling proud of myself when suddenly I hear footsteps, I quickly grabbed whatever I could find to defend myself with, which unfortunately was between a chair and the rope they used to hold me. They must have cleaned everything out. I quickly grabbed the chair and when the mysterious person came to the bottom of the stairs I slammed the chair on them quickly before they could react . Once I calmed down I saw that this person was different than the first and it was a girl a little older than me, she was pretty with strawberry blonde hair and now with the making of a giant bruise on her forehead. I quickly whisper a sorry in her ear and run up the stairs. At the top I find another girl waiting for me with a bat. I noticed right away that she was way more muscular than me so if I wanted even the slightest chance of not getting crushed to pieces I knew the bat had to go. She swung and nearly took my head off. She probably would have if I didn't have my fabulous reflexes. She had a determined look on her face as she tackled me and we both went tumbling down the stairs. I don't take kindly to people coming into my house and tying me up in my own basement. But the fall really hurt and I had trouble getting back on my feet. By the time I found the strength to lift my head she was already back on her feet and ready attack but my instincts kicked In and well...I kicked her. She screamed a not so nice word at me as she pulled me up by my long hair and punched me in the face. At this point I was just happy the bat got knocked out of her hands during the fall down the stairs. I was screaming in pain as I saw the handle of the bat from the corner of my eye. It was underneath the stairs and if I could get there I might stand a chance. I tried to punch her in the face because I figured that's where it would hurt most but it ended up hurting me more than her so I settled with stepping on her foot and biting her arm. To my surprise it actually worked! She screamed as my teeth cut into her pale flesh. I might have tasted a little blood but that just got her angrier. "You stupid little, bitch! Now you're really going to get it!" Her face was scrunched up with rage as she leaped for me but I had already grabbed the bat. I didn't really mean to hit her as hard as I did but she looked more peaceful knocked out so it turned out alright. Since all the craziness was over I could actually focus on her features and she had a strong face with really pretty blonde hair. I would have made sure the two girls were okay but the first girl that attacked me started to rub her head so I took that as my cue to leave. I realized now that I was too eager to leave the first time around which goes against everything my parents told me, so I slowly climbed the stairs of my basement holding the baseball bat in case we had another visitor. After all there was still that guy I heard in the beginning. I stood quietly at the doorframe but everywhere I looked it was empty, until I stepped into my living room that is. In the living room I see my parents and their workers, I even saw some old people I didn't know. They were all dressed in black except for the old looking people in the back they were wearing long grey robes which honestly made them look like potato sacks, but no judgment. They were all standing there looking at me intently as if I shouldn't exist. I dropped the bat and my parents rushed to me. I was so confused and demanded them to tell me what was happening. Everyone went silent but my mother was the first to speak, "Honey since your father and I are who we are, she continues carefully, "well all the children have three tests to either pass or fail, if you pass you become one of us, if you fail you continue life as a normal teenager." I stare at them completely shocked, this must be a joke. Quietly, just above a whisper I say, " did I pass or fail?" My voice trembling a little at the word fail. That's when one of the older men in the back stood up and spoke, "you passed." Relief floods through me, my parents are the best at what they do if I didn't make it I would be a joke. "In fact, he adds, you just beat your parents time, no one has done that in, he paused, well ever." He quickly recovers and says, "congratulations on your first test, you passed, good luck to you on your next two" and with that all the older people left. Once they were gone I rushed to my parents. "What does he mean I'm the first to beat your score!" I practically shout. My father calmly replies, "He means just that" he turns to face me then his voice urgent, "Becky you listen to me, you have to be careful your mother and I are suspicious of the elders, this has never happened before and we believe they are up to something, maybe looking for the strongest one and you definitely caught their eye." He pauses" just be cautious and don't trust anyone but us and of course Jenna and Tom." My face must look very confused right about now because my mom speaks up, "Honey, we have to move you to base now. You passed the first test which means you have to take training as they prepare you for the next two." Completely shocked I stutter, "What about school...and tomorrow I was supposed to go to the mall with Sam and Justin." Just then a guy walks in, he's about my age, very handsome with black hair, blue eyes, and an awesome jaw line. I quickly look away as his eye catches mine. He looks bored as if he couldn't be bothered with me. "Alrighty then, that's cool just kidnap me and then be sassy. That's fine with me, stranger. super hot, stranger." I think. I could see his muscles through his black t-shirt. I must have been starring too long because he raises an eyebrow at me and speaks, "Hi, I'm Chase, I'm your trainer and you'll be coming with me." Well that was blunt. "Um excuse me Chase, I say, but I don't know you and a few minutes ago you held a knife to my face so I will not "be going with you."" I say mockingly, as I turn around to see my parents I immediately know I must have said something wrong just by the look my mom gave me. My dad actually chuckled a little bit but my mom elbowed him to be serious. I got the message. "On second thought, I say as I exit the room, my parents are apparently abandoning me so I'll just go to my room and pack now." As I was walking away I could hear my mom sigh and Chase scoff, but I didn't really care. Who do my parents think they are?! They just got home from their trip to who knows where and now their sending me off with some random dude with fabulous hair! I slammed the door to my room and looked around. The same room I've had since I could remember, I could still see the burn mark on the floor that I tried to cover with a rug. It was my first time straightening my hair and I had left the iron on. Let's just say Jenna and Tom weren't too happy about that one. I put my ear to the door and I heard my parents talking to Chase. I groaned as I got up from the floor and started to stuff things into my blue duffle bag. I packed my tooth brush, clothes, my iPod and my tears (okay maybe not that last one). The duffle bag was way heavier than I thought it would be so I decided to drag it instead. As I walked back to the living room Chase was gone but my parents were waiting for me. They had a grim look on their faces as they watched me approach. My dad spoke up this time, "Becky, make sure you take good care of yourself and don't trust anyone." He then gave me a hug and whispered in my ear, "Remember, you're a Changtem, you can do anything." I hugged him back and said goodbye. I have to admit a tear may have rolled from my eye onto his tie. I then turned to my mom. We fought a lot and I had a better relationship with my dad but that didn't mean I wouldn't miss her. I walked over to her and gave her a big hug. Once we parted and I tried to pick up my duffle bag again she said, "Honey, always remember who you are." And with that Chase walked in to escort me to the cab. He picked up my duffle bag like it was a feather, but I wasn't surprised, I'd had a very interesting day. As the cab took off I looked back at the house I'd grown up in and hoped I'd be back soon.
