The Turn Around

Surprisingly today I woke up before Chase could barge into my room again. I found piles of clothes on my bed side table. There were enough clothes for the rest of the week. I got dressed and swore to myself I would do better today than yesterday. I promised myself that after today people would know not to mess with me. I wasn't about to go through the same thing here than I did in school. Other than my two best friends no one really knew I existed there, so I'll just have to make sure I make an impression here. I scanned the clothes and the shirt in the first pile was a turtle neck. Wow. When I wanted a shirt that was more covered up I didn't want to be a nun either. And especially not today. I took the shirt in the third pile that was super low scooped, some leather style pants and my hi-top converse. I dug through my duffle bag and found my makeup bag that I tossed in last minute. I pulled out my eye liner and mascara. Once I finished that I took out my tinted lipgloss to top off my look. I stepped back once I was done and looked in the mirror. I didn't look like myself but I looked strong and that's what I wanted to be here. I was reaching for my iPod when I heard the door opening and Chase yelling "Rise and shine, sleepyhead." I got up from my bed and walked straight out of my room without looking at him. His eyes widened as I walk passed by but I forced myself to look forward and stand tall. Well as tall as I could stand seeing as I was like 5'4. I kept walking as Chase jogged after me.
He started, "Look about yesterday I'm-"
"What about yesterday." I cut him off and gave him a glare as to end the conversation. He must have gotten the message because he didn't say anything else for the rest of the walk to the training room. As I walked in everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at me. Some people were whispering and giggling to each other. I even heard someone say, "She'll be the first to go". I stood frozen for a second but then I remembered the promise to myself and stalked over to the knife throwing station I practiced at the day before. I picked up three knives and turned to see that all eyes were still on me. I turned the knives in my hand and felt the cool metal against my skin. I took a deep breath and threw them all at once. As I had hoped they all hit the center of the target. Now I had everyone's attention and the whispers had stopped. I turned to the rope station and made my way to the one that gave troubled me yesterday. I grabbed hold of the rope feeling the unforgettable roughness of the rope. I took more look around and saw Chase leaning on the wall with he's leg bent supporting him. He had his arms crossed and a surprised yet proud look on his face. His smug face sparked my anger. I climbed as I thought how dare he have that look on his face he didn't do anything to help me improve! Before I could finish the rant in my head I had reached the top. I pushed the red button with pride. As the alarm blared I jumped from the top of the rope Down to the mats below. I landed on one knee and stood up. As I looked up look of surprise and respect was visible on everyone's face. I was scanning the room when I saw the two girls that attacked me at my house a few days ago the strawberry blonde was grinning as if approving of me and the one that once held the baseball bat had a disgusted look on her face. I realized that I was staring but then I saw a bruise on her head that she tried to hide with her bangs and some makeup but I didn't really work out. I gave her a sickly sweet smile, which she rolled her eyes at, and walked back over to Chase. He nodded at me in approval and everyone went back to their training activities. Chase turned to me as if to say something but he was cut off by an announcement over the intercoms. The voice sounded old, possibly one of the elders. The voice called down both me and Chase. I looked at him confused but he didn't seem surprised as he motioned for me to follow him out of the training room.
