Girlfriend For the Month?

Chapter 3

Ross' POV (A/N this is after he saw McKayla cheating) 

I slam the front door, and my mom looks over at me in surprise.

"You're back already, honey?"

I nod, and she knows not to press.

"Dinner will be ready in half an hour," she says.

I head up the stairs to my room, and only then does it hit me full force. McKayla cheated on me. I try to hold back the tears, and as I become painfully aware of the lump in my throat, a few tears manage to slip through.

And then it's over. The dam has been broken and now the flood of tears comes rushing forth. Doubt clouds my mind. Was I not good enough for her? Why would she do this?

I hear footsteps running up the stairs, but I'm too heartbroken to care. I was going to tell her I loved her today.

But who knows. Maybe this wasn't even the first time. She did seem awfully well acquainted with him. And then, as if this all wasn't enough, that heartless bitch decides to fucking TEXT me.

McKayla: Hey babe, where are you? You said you'd be here at seven and it's already eight o' clock. You coming or not?

I stare at the message, and then laugh. She probably wants to know if I'm not coming so she can call her fuck buddy back in her room. I decide to text her back, since she'll know that I read it. This is gonna be fun.

Ross: Omg babe I am so sorry! I forgot to tell you earlier, but I came down with this nasty cold. Hate to get my baby sick, so I am so sorry, but I won't be able to make it.

I shudder with disgust as I press send, and then once again as I read what she sent.

McKayla: Oh uts alright babe. Once you get healthy again, I'm gonna make sure you feel ALL better.

Ew. Just. Gross. She was (And probably still is) literally ALL over that guy. Gross.

*PRESENT DAY*

As I grab my change of clothes from my backpack (I've learned to expect this kind of thing), I realise that I CANNOT go back to the cafeteria. I finish slipping the clothes on, and then head to the music room. It's usually abandoned at this time.

 PRESS PLAY NOW

I hear a voice in the room when I open the door. She's singing a song I don't know,  and not really real lyrics, just vocalising, but her voice is beautiful. I walk behind her, not wanting her to stop,and then wait till she's done. I start paying attention to the lyrics. She's saying:

"Always aiming paper airplanes at me

You can crush my candy cane but you'll never catch me cry
