7.The Clearing

A damn apple. How dare they! I haven't been fed in so long, not even since I've been his personal slave as of 2 days ago and only when I passed out about 30min ago they thought I should eat. After I woke up another slave came and gave me an apple.
I just love the irony of the situation, a teacher getting an apple. Too bad I couldn't ponder on the unintended joke for too long as I finished the apple within seconds.

I honestly hate this era now that I'm living in it. I mean hey, Its fun to teach about it but actually being here is another story all together. The clothes these people wear is so raggy and gross and the guards are in knight armour all the time which I'm sure must be irritating. Don't even get me started on the servants bathrooms -I involuntarily shiver- it's just N.A.S.T.Y, I'm tired of doing my business in a hole which is so not sanitary and only being allowed to bath every second day is beyond disgusting.

Sighing in dismay I continue cleaning Eric's room, a job I'm not allowed help with which sucks since his mideval room is the size of 2 classrooms. Grabbing his clothes from the floor I pack them neatly in his closet, I then start making his bed which looked like it could fit 10 people comfortably.

He's so spoilt.

"Knock knock Rose", turning around I see Jesh by the door. He's been really nice to me since the incident where I sorta pounced on him. He promised not to tell anyone that I was a shifter and he lived up to that promise, making me warm up to him. Smiling at him I saw a plate in his hands with a delicious smelling aroma coming from it making my mouth water.
"

Hey there Jesh, what's up?" I said to him while I kept my eyes on the food, the yummy delicious food.
"I came to bring you some food, that is if you want,-" he smirked "-, but you seem really busy so I'll just ea-" I ran and grabbed the food from him before he could even finish his sentence which led to him bursting in laughter. "Son af n bwitch, uh wuv ooh for dis ", I said with my mouth full of food, not caring if I looked like a pig in front of a cute guy.

"Ohhh myyy gawsh", I drawled out as i finished scarfing all the food down, actually feeling more satisfied than I've felt in a long time. I was embarrassed to realise that I didn't even look at the food before eating it but I'm 70% sure it was roast lamb and bread.

"Now that you're done breathing in your food, do you wanna go for a run?" That sounded so nice, its hard to go long without shifting. But what I can't risk is getting caught, "Jesh we can't, well I can't. I can't risk getting caught shifting." I said sadly.

I don't want to die.

"Rose I thought of it all. There's a clearing we can go to not very far from here." He sounded so sure of himself that it made it hard to thing of refusing him. "I'm in."

Live now, regret later. Right?

*In the clearing 10min later*

"Jesh! You little shit I can't believe you told the guards you're taking me out here so you can get 'lucky', you should be lucky I don't hurt you," I snarled in annoyance. Looking smug he replied, "Well it worked didn't it? They won't disturb us out here now."

Damn it, he's right. We have the clearing to ourselves. Walking behind a tree I strip down and shift into my wolf form, enjoying the sound of nature and the familiar smells it offered.

Before I could realise he was behind me he bit my tail causing me to jump in shock. Snarling in annoyance I started chasing him, us being only a blurr to the creatures around us. We rarely bolt as it drains us horribly but I needed to teach him a lesson.

As I finally neared him I pounced on his back and nipped his ears lightly then jumped off his back and stood in front of him, a clear challenge.

Accept it mutt, come on.

I'm not sure how he managed it but I swear he snickered in my face. I'm going to kill him I thought as I jumped on him forcing him to fall on his back, I then started liking his cheek, a show of motherly love which probably wiped all his 'wolf swagger' away.

Shifting back to our human forms, we got dressed and sat together in the clearing, enjoying the last bit of the day we had left. "Jesh, do you want to play 20 questions?"

His hesitation made me curious be he nodded an okay none the less. "What's your name? Is It Joshua?", "Yes my name is Joshua. My full name is Joshua Elric Stone. And yours is?"

"Rose Blackthorne. Hmm, is there a Mrs Stone? I can smell that she wolf all over you." I wiggled my eyebrows childishly. The look on my face fell as I saw the look on his.

Pain.

"My mate died about a year after we met. She was from an overseas pack and came with a message from her Alpha. I was in the courtyard training in my wolf form and you know how it is, how the mate bond formed when she saw me in wolf form. From them onwards it was love. Until those rogues attacked!" I could feel the pain radiating off of him. That she wolf must have been a fling since we hardly ever move on from our mate. Rejection being rare.

"Jesh, I had no idea. I'm sorry for asking." I tried but failed to keep the guilt out of my voice. Standing up he dusted his hands,"We should get back, Its getting late. I enjoyed today Rose, we should do it again soon." Smiling he extended his hand for me to take which I accepted gratefully, "I enjoyed it too Jesh. You're not a bad guy, just an ass sometimes." I said jokingly. Laughing like crazy people at my words as we made our way to the castle.
