I gave Ruby the biggest hug ever when got off the plane. She had a bouquet of roses for me along with a small white teddy bear. I kissed her for what seemed like a lifetime as she picked me up and twirled me around. "Gosh I missed you," she whispered to me in my ear. I looked at her with a smile. "It's only been a week and a half," I told her. "I know babe, but I just got used to you being here, so when you left things just felt different, and not the good different." I looked at roses and smelled them. "Just help me get my things and take me home."
After a good meal, we finally made it back to Ruby's apartment. Just walking through the door made me feel more at home since living in California when I was younger and when I had lived with Papa and Natalie in Italy. Ruby helped me bring my things inside and we brought them upstairs to the room. "So I was thinking that tomorrow after you're all good and rested that we could go out and look for a bigger apartment," she said after putting down the last suitcase on the ground.
"But you told me on the way to the restaurant that you made some room from my clothes. Do I have more than you thought?" Ruby walked up to me and held me close. "I did make room for you, but I don't want you to feel like we're cramped in this tiny apartment. A bigger one would be great for us both, and plus I've been wanting to move for awhile anyways." 'We haven't even been dating for more than a few months and she's already thinking about our future?! Wow, she must really be into me.' "But," she continued, "before we do anything, you and I need to talk about what happened with you and your mom."
Since the moment I stepped into the airport back in New York til this moment with Ruby, I haven't thought about Mom and now that Ruby mentioned her, my happiness was going away. "Do we have to at this moment?," I asked while pouting. "Honestly, I'm not in the mood right now."
"You're gonna have to be in the mood one way or another because it's not good to keep things bottled up," Ruby said. She took me to the bed and we laid together. I laid my head on her chest as she rubbed my head slowly and gently. "I know you're feeling some type of way and I'm here to hear you out," she continued. "You could vent to me all you want." Deep down I was fed up with everything. "Babe, could we just shower and then head to bed," I responded, pretending as if I didn't hear what she said. "I'm so jet lagged from the plane ride over here." Ruby sighed. "Fine. I'll get the water ready."
**********3 months later**********
After a month in a half of apartment searching, finding a great place, and moving, Ruby and I were finally all unpacked and settled into our two bedroom, one and a half bathroom apartment in Sydney. The funny thing about all of this was the fact that I had always imagined myself moving into my first place by myself back in California, preferably in Los Angeles, but like I had said before, life usually has other plans for most people. I didn't care. Ruby and I had fallen more in love with each other every day that we had spent together so far and at that moment, I was feeling like I couldn't live without her.
As of two months ago, I had technically dropped "Hargitay" from my name. I didn't feel like I was a Hargitay anymore after everything that had happened. I was going to legally change my last name to Boni like Papa, but after Natalie was able to get in contact with me a few weeks after I moved and Papa insisted on speaking to me and giving me a long lecture as to why I went overboard and that I made a huge mistake in leaving the way that I did, I chose not to give myself that last name either, only because I felt that I had disappointed him. So I decided to just only be recognized as Keira Jayne for the time being.
I continued modeling for Veronica for clothing ads and I had also continued going out for movie auditions, finally landing a new roles in Love Actually and King Arthur. Since all the movies that I have done had me speak in an British accent, my dialect kind of changed from American English to British English. I spoke both ways and Ruby was the first to notice it. Anyways, it seemed like everything was falling into place in my my favor. Everything, that is, until one, unfortunate night that changed all the good to the bad.
