Whatever It Takes

Much later that night, Kyungsoo returns from the hospital. Instead of quietly going into Suho room, he returns to the room that he and Kai share. He sits on the bed and looks around the room. He notices the pictures of happier times with
Kai. Looking at the stuffed penguin Kai gave him, it made him smile. It was a knock on the door and the door opens. It was Suho. Kyungsoo quickly gets off the bed, grabs a bag and start packing some of Kai belongings.

"Kai is going to be in the hospital a couple more days. I'm taking him some of his things tomorrow."

"Okay when you're done, just come back to my room."

Kyungsoo stutter, "I, I'm not going back to your room."

Suho was surprised by Kyungsoo's statement, "Why not?"

"Well, I think with everything that's going on, it would be the right thing to do, especially since Kai doesn't remember the break-up."

"What does that have to do with anything? We'll just tell him when he gets home."

"I don't think we should. Kai is fragile right now. I don't think we should do anything to cause a setback to his recovery."

Kyungsoo zips the bag he packed for Kai and places it on Kai's bed.

"Are you sure that's all it is? You're not having second thoughts about us?"

Kyungsoo doesn't say anything for a few seconds, thinking about how nice it was to have what seemed like the old Kai back. Kyungsoo kisses Suho on the forehead, "Don't worry," he tells Suho. Which makes the hair on the back of Suho neck stand up.

-at the hospital-

EXO's manager comes in to go over schedule with Kai. He tells Kai the schedule for the next week and reminds him what has happened the last few days with Exo. The manager leaves the itinerary with Kai and leaves.
Kai picks up the itinerary and look at it.  He puts it down and smiles. Feeling very pleased with himself, he picks up the phone and text Amber. He wanted to talk to someone he trusted. He had to tell someone what he did.
Text reads:
-Amber, it's Kai.-
-Kai! I'm so happy that you're finally awake. Krystal and I have been worried about you.-
-Thank you. I need to tell you something, but it needs to stay between the two of us. You can't tell Krystal.-
-Kyungsoo broke up with me to be with Suho-
-I'm so sorry to hear that Kai-
-It's fine. I'm going to get him back.
Everyone thinks I've had memory loss, that I can't remember the last few weeks, but I can-
-Why would you do that?-
-Because I love Kyungsoo and I can't live without him. My drinking wasn't an accident. I tried to commit suicide.-
-Kai!!-
-I know. But I was given a second chance and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get him back.-
-Kai, idk about this. Please take care of yourself!-
-I will.-
Kai ends the text with Amber and texts Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo's phone goes off. He picks up the phone and sees its a text from Kai. Kyungsoo smiles.

"What is it?" Suho asks.
Kyungsoo replied, "It's nothing."
Suho leaves for his room.
Kyungsoo moves the bag off Kai's bed and lays back on his pillow. He smiles, with delight as Kai's fragrance fills him.
