frustration

what luke + his apartment look like ^

luke stood in front of his easel, staring at his work with a stoic expression. the 23-year old sighed, putting the multicolored brush down on his dirty palette. he walked out of the open room and into the kitchen of his city apartment, opening his fridge and grabbing a water bottle. he takes down the whole thing all at once and leans against his fridge, sighing. yet again, he was unsatisfied with his work.

luke was an aspiring artist, a damn talented one too. however, he was never happy with what he created. there were occasional exceptions, but overall, he wasn't satisfied. he had experimented with many different methods and styles, but he could never get it right. it frustrated him.

he returned to the paint-scented room and began to clean up. he was very organized. he placed all of the acrylic paint he had used in their designated box, arranged by color. he covered the canvas with a sheet and made his way to the large closet, placing it against another covered canvas. he scanned the room, taking in all of the canvas he had covered in unfulfilling patterns and portraits. should i just give up? he thought to himself. he had been trying to make a living off of his art for 6 years now, to no avail. he could sell what he had created, but it felt wrong to him to do so. he quickly pushed the thought out of his mind as he continued to clean up the area. although he hated almost every piece he created, he loved what he did. creating art filled him with a type of joy that nothing else gave him. the way he saw it, even if the end result wasn't satisfying, the journey of creating it made him very content.

after taking a quick shower, washing away all of the colors that adorned his hands, luke makes his way to his bedroom, happy to see a few of his works that he happened to be proud of on his walls. he changed into light grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt then climbed into bed. maybe tomorrow. he thought as he attempted to fall asleep.
