Jake and Bruce walked down the street. No walkers or hunters were in sight.
"I... I wasn't thinking." Bruce spoke up. "I'm sorry it took this long to say it. I just didn't know what to say." He added. Jake shook his head and continued to lead Bruce to the meet up. "Well, it was stupid." Jake told him. "I, I know." Bruce replied.
"Where are the others?" Bruce asked. "Up ahead." Jake harshly said "And where are we going...?" Bruce asked. "A motel." He told him. Bruce sighed. "Can't believe it. It's just me, my daughter, Jasmine and Brad." He said. Jake kept walking. "There were more of us, like my wife. But the hunters caught us. Them brought us to their camp."
Jake let out a frustrated sigh, really not caring about Bruce's life story. "My wife traveled for work. I wasn't a fan of that, neither was Katey. But, back in that world, we did what we had to. To keep our families fed. Keep a roof over our heads. To make a living."
A tear slipped from Bruce's eye. "After they found us, they separated us. They put a gun to her head, and killed her." Bruce said. A small frown found its way onto Jake's face. But only for a second. He shook it off and a scowl took over the frown.
After a few more blocks, they finally made it to the motel.
"That it?" Bruce asked. "Yeah, c'mon." Jake said. As they walked up the steps, Katey saw them and ran to them. "Dad! You're okay!" She cheerfully said and gave her father a hug. "You okay?" Will asked Jake. He nodded at him. "Good, we thought maybe-" "Yeah, okay Will. Whatever." Jake said as he passed him.
"Is everything okay?" Clementine asked her brother. Giving him a brief hug. "Everything's fine." He said in a low tone. Clementine frowned at him. "Are you sure." Jake opened the fridge, grabbed a beer, and slammed it shut.
"Bruce was about to kill 'emself Clem. I'm the one who pulled the gun away from that fucker." Jake said. Clementine frowned at him. "You don't know what he's going through. He seems to be... dealing with stuff." She said. Jake glared at her and took a sip. "This has never been easy, you know? We've all been there. Dealing with the bad shit?" She said. "Don't be so judging toward them. They might not be that bad." Clementine added.
Jake looked at her. "I let dark times take me over. Jake, you always helped me through that. Maybe, we can help Bruce now, you know?" Clementine said. Jake just replied with a subtle nod. "Most of their group is dead. What hurt is it gonna be to just let them stick around for a few days. I mean, they have a little girl." Clementine said.
"Enough, Clem." Jake told her. "Jake, please just listen-" "I said that's enough, Clementine!" Jake told her.
Clementine frowned at him again, and left the room. Before she left, Clementine looked over her shoulder at her brother. "I know you don't trust them. But, just think about it for a while. Okay? For me..." She said. And with that, Clementine left Jake alone.
"What was that about?" Abigail asked. Clementine shrugged her shoulders. "Jake's just upset about Bruce and his group being here." Clementine said. Abigail frowned and looked at her feet. "He ain't too trustin' towards strangers, is he?" She said. Clementine responded by shaking her head. "Hmm." Abigail mumbled and walked away.
"Things can't get any worse." Clementine said under her breath.
