I hummed quietly under my breath as I jotted down the answers to the questions. This pop quiz was surprisingly easy and I really hope I did well because my school marks are the only thing I'm actually good at achieving. And I also needed to maintain good marks so I can keep my position as valedictorian.
The shrill sound of the bell screeching reached my ears and I sighed in relief that I managed to finish the test on time. I packed all my things into my bag, slinging it over my shoulder and standing up. I handed my paper to the teacher at the front of the class and quickly sped out the door and towards my locker.
Spinning the lock to the correct digits, I unlocked my locker and stuffed all my books in messily, praying that didn't fall out. And just like my everyday routine, out came a small flittering white piece of paper.
I grinned giddily and bent down to pick the note up. Frantically unfolding it, I read the beautiful words.
'Dear my most beautiful Cassie,
Why is it that I look for you in everyone I meet. Maybe that's why I'm never satisfied with them all, because they're not you.
Love,
Anonymous <3'I hastily folded the note and placed it into my pocket, feeling a sense of happiness wash over me. I slammed my locker door shut and skipped down the hallway to Mr Smith's office where he told me to meet him.
I halted at the door and quickly knocked, waiting for an answer. The door opened to reveal Mr Smith's grimacing face.
"Cassie, thank you for showing up," he spoke, gesturing to the chair.
"It's okay, Sir," I replied, making my way over to the chair and sitting down.
"Well, the new student should be here any min-" Mr Smith stated but was cut off by the door slamming open.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! That was an accident," a petite girl gushed, with a tinge of red dusting her cheeks.
"That is okay, Miss Lillith. Please, take a seat and close the door behind you."
The small girl hurriedly shut the door and rushed over to the seat beside mine and sat down.
"Cassie, this is Lillith Piper, the new student I spoke to you about yesterday," he explained whilst giving me a pointed look.
"Yes, I remember," I nodded. "It's nice to meet you Lillith."
"You too!" She replied happily, practically bouncing in her seat.
Lillith was actually gorgeous, like really gorgeous. Her soft brown hair was cut into a short bob with nice clean curls bouncing. Her brown eyes twinkled with excitement as her dark skin complexion seemed to glow. She looked very exotic and from her slight accent, I can tell that she's not originally from here.
"Great. Well, Cassie will be showing you around the school today, Lillith. She will lead you to all your classes and if you have any questions she will definitely be willing to answer. Any questions, girls?" Mr Smith spoke.
We both shook our heads in unison.
"Okay. Up and out."
We both stood up from our seats and rushed to the door, making our way outside the office and into the scarce hallway.
"It's really nice to meet you! I'm so glad I already have a friend," Lillith squealed while clapping her hands and bouncing on the balls of her feet.
My eyes widened at her bubbly personality and a smile overtook my face. She was nice. I liked her already.
"It's nice to meet you too. I'm Cassie, even though you already know that because Mr Smith told you," I rambled nervously. I was never good with meeting new people.
