Hey guys! So...long time no column. But I will try to write weekly now. And thank you to everyone who still bothers to read this!
BEST BOOK OF THE WEEK: The Arabian Desert
AUTHOR: FeastOfNoise (Manar)
STATUS: In progress
SUMMARY:
In order to protect her daughter and prevent scandal and disgrace, Fadia disguises her only child, Maria, as a boy when Zane, the arrogant, enigmatic and demonically handsome rogue attacks their town and claims it as his after murdering the Sheikh, in search of its riches and treasures and a secret goal precious to his dark heart. It is no ordinary town, for it lies right on the Silk Route, the route merchants and travellers used to cross the Arabian Desert since ancient times in order to reach Egypt and Europe. Famed for its legendary location, treasures and irresistible, beautiful women, travellers and merchants from all over the world sought it out and whispered of its magnificence. Laying new rules, Zane demands that the town's virgins be given to him to serve and pleasure him, the price the town pays for keeping its trade going along with giving over half its profits and earnings. To innocent Maria, it's either stay hidden or risk being caught and taken by Zane, a traitorous, conniving demon in her eyes. Fleeing and alerting the Sultan to Zane's notorious crimes is not an option, for the walls that encase the town and act like a giant cage guarded by Zane's men keep the town's people from freedom -a freedom most the town's people no longer seek once Zane's temptations corrupt their hearts and souls. But not Maria. What happens when Maria accidently –and literally- bumps into Zane, revealing dark, long wavy hair and her long-hidden face?
WHY IS THIS BOOK THE FEATURE OF THIS COLUMN:
The whole reason I like this books is because it is a breath of fresh air. While keeping just a little to the clichés we all know and love, it is different because it is set in a different era, and written with the words of that era. There is no high school drama, no bitchy cheerleader, no obnoxious-yet-hot boy. But there is a desert, a bevy of beauties, and a dashing young rogue. Then the grammar and spelling is near perfect, and the few flaws are evidently typos. The idea is good, different from all the arranged marriage you generally find in Historical Fiction. Overall, a must read if you’re into Arabia, robbers and a bygone era where you’ll find you’re quite happy to live...if it’s in this delightful book!
Next week’s column features the most read genre on Wattpad- our beloved TEEN FICTION! Now, I’ve changed my account name to @NaafiaAmod, so drop me a line or leave a comment if you have something that you’d like to see featured. I read everyone, and I’ll try to give you feedback even if I don’t write the column about it!
Love Always,
Naafia
