After a while Katniss finally comes out. Her face is blotchy and red and I can see the sadness in her eyes. Everyone is smart enough not to ask her questions so she just sits down and plays with her food. After a while President Paylor breaks the awkward silence and stands up. "Today you will meet your mentors and they will give you advice. We aren't doing a tribute parade this year but we will do interviews the night before the arena." We get handed out slips of paper that tell us what room to go in. We then get to talk strategies with them. I can't say I'm not excited but overall I'm dreading it. We are dismissed to go to the rooms now. I look on my slip and see the number 3. It must be in the order we were reaped. To show that they aren't being biased with the mentors it's all randomised. I walk to the room and sit down on the red couch. It's made out of plush velvet which soothes my skin. It also reminds me of home as I had one of these in my house. I wait a solid five minutes before I hear the door open. I want anyone but Katniss Everdeen...well maybe not Haynitch because he is always drunk. I turn around and see her. I wanted anyone but her but of cause the odds are never in my favour. As soon as Katniss lays eyes on me she freezes again. Gosh this girl needs to get a grip. She turns and sees the door closed tightly. Great she was going to run out. She smiles slightly and takes a seat on the couch but still a reasonable space away from me. "Hello I'm Katniss." She says as if I don't know her name. The whole country knows her name so telling me it wasn't necessary. "I know what your name is girl on fire." I spit at her and she seems a little taken back about it but she quickly regains steadiness. "My name is Cora by the way." She nods and looks away. I use this to actually take her in. Her hair is in its usual braid. Her eyes are grey and she has tan, olive skin. She is wearing plain black pants, a purple and red striped top and black boots. I wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit but I have to expect it from a girl who lived in district 12. "So we should talk strategies. Are you good with any weapons?" She asks in a hopeful way. I shake my head. "Nope. I also cannot fight, hunt or survive anywhere without a avox." I reply and cross my arms. "Ok." She says awkwardly. She couldn't have expected much from us anyway. We were all raised in the Capitol. "Well my advice for the arena is to make sure you get water. I almost died from dehydration in the 74th games. You should also get shelter. You can ally with someone that you trust, maybe someone you know or are friends with." I nod a little absent minded. I don't like having Katniss as a mentor. She thinks all this will save me when in reality I'm doomed. "Ok whatever." I mumble and roll my eyes. She frowns and stares at me. "What is the matter?" She questions me in an annoyed tone. "I don't like you very much." I say bluntly. "Trust me the feeling is mutual." She mutters and rolls her eyes. "Hey I don't like your attitude." I say to her. I know back chatting her isn't the smartest thing to do but I don't really care. "Well I don't like your attitude." She raises her voice while pointing to me. Just then the door opens and I know our time is up. She immediately gets up and walks out of the room, leaving me behind. Why does she have to be so annoying? All I want is to go home but she is making it so hard! I am not looking forward to training with her tomorrow.
