You watched as the last of her torn flowing dress whisked through the doorway into the shadows. You gulped, eyes watering. What were you to do now!? You could either wait for her to get back, or try to solve the puzzles on your own. Either way something was bound to happen- something from the shadows getting you, or accidentally solving the puzzle incorrectly and getting hurt by it.
Standing slowly, you noticed through the doorway, a small yellow star glinted. You looked at it curiously. How could a star even get down here? What does it do?
You approached it slowly, walking into the dark room. Red leaves littered the ground like spattered blood, and cracks lined the walls with bricked edges sticking out where damage had been done. The ruins were truly... In ruins.
You reached out ever so slowly towards the small star with your hands. It's bright yellow glow softly shone in the darkness, illuminating the ground and nearby walls with a faint yellow tint. As your hand got closer, it started glowing brighter and brighter. You were just about to touch it, and it glowed ever so brightly-
"POOF!"
The ground in front of you gave way and a flower popped up. It was torn, and it turned to face you with teary eyes and a small smile.
You beamed. It was the flower from earlier!
"Hi," you said, filled with happiness.
"I thought you were dead!" You moved in to hug him, careful to mind his soft ripped petals. He smiled weakly."I always find a way back..." His eyes gleamed.
You looked at him confused.
"What do you mean...? How did you even survive?" You were sure you saw his stem snapped clean in half...
"Monsters only die when they turn to dust..." He murmured; eyes downcast, dismissing the question and farther prying from you.
You decided to ignore that and stroked his petals slowly. He looked up at you.
"I... Thank you, human..."
"(Y/n)." You corrected.
"Thank you, (y/n).." He corrected himself. "I'm Flowey, by the way. You're the only human that's fallen down here to ever be my friend... All the others either tried to kill me or ignore me.."
The phrase... 'All the others'... It reminded you of something from the surface. Something that made you feel deeply troubled. But you couldn't remember one thing from your life on the surface. You shook it off. Maybe you'll remember it some other time..?
You picked Flowey up.
"We should move on. Toriel said I could try the puzzles if I wanted.. So we may as well."
He shuddered.
"Good luck with that... The puzzles are easy, but the monsters are bloodthirsty and cruel." He suddenly moved his stem so that vines came out and wrapped around your arm in a spiral, and he rested his head on your shoulder.
"Comfy?" You giggled.
He nodded.
"Let's go!"
The two of you made your way through many puzzles, solving them with ease. Not many monsters came near you, surprisingly. Only one came near you, until the flower looked at it with a jagged smile much like a jack-o-lantern. It was a red frog, and it turned white like a ghost as soon as it came near you two.
Soon enough, you two reached Toriels house. She came out of it just as you two arrived, and you looked at her fearfully. Dust was all over her dress, and her hands had dough or something stuck in them. She wiped her hands on her dress, and smiled devilishly when she looked up to see you standing there. She frowned when she noticed Flowey.
"I jus can't get rid of that weed, can I?" She murmured, walking up to you.
"Hello, my child~ I am glad you made it.. Come, I have a surprise for you~"
Toriel walked ahead into her house, but you stalled. The star was outside her house, too. This time you touched it, and a save file appeared. You saved your progress, much like a game. You looked at Flowey, who seemed just as confused as you.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Um... You don't see the yellow star??" You questioned, gesturing to the glittering object. He shook his head no, and you grunted in annoyance.
"I'm serious." Your monotone voice made Flowey look at you skeptically.
"I'm serious too, I don't see it! I thought you were joking..?" It was your turn to shake your head no, and Flowey looked deep in thought.
Shaking it off, you entered Toriel's house. Inside she was waiting patiently, hands clasped together.
