You looked at Toriel with a fake grin, a nervous sweat finding its way onto your forehead.

"I just wanted to play in the y-yard with Flowey.." You said meekly, sporting a cheesy smile.

Toriel giggled.

"Alright, deary.. Hurry back!~" she disappeared almost as suddenly as she appeared and you sighed in relief.

You turned to Flowey, who shrugged. You then walked towards the door. Opening it, you looked left then right, an empty hallway greeting you. Your quiet, creaking footsteps made their way down the hall. Making sure no one was in the next room, you slowly made your way around the banister and down Toriels stairs into the basement, where the exit to the underground lay.

Each and every stair groaned with an old effort to support the human and flower descending them.

A straight purple hallway, darkened with shadows and dust and spiders here and there, lay ahead of you now. Your footstep echoed like heels on stone as you stepped down the last stair onto the hard cement floor. The brick walls loomed above on either side of you, seemingly closing in on you due to their sheer size and the shadows inking the walls.

You took a deep breath, and started running.

Your footsteps pattered hard against the cold floor. They bounced and echoed off the walls, seemingly louder and louder.

A soft hum of an all too familiar melody along with a soft gasp was heard from behind.

Glancing over your shoulder, you realized you needed to

Run.

Like.

H E L L.

Toriel was hot on your heels, nostrils flaring as she fought to keep up with you. You ran as fast as you could, drawing rapid breaths.

The hallway seemed to stretch forever, and Toriels heavy breathing and pounding footsteps against the stone floor were getting closer. Toriels claws scraped the floor in an effort to grip and propel her more.

Her breath was practically on your neck, and your hair raised along your spine.

You weren't going to make it..!!

"Drop me!!" Flowey yelled to you. Confused, you dropped him as you ran. He fell to the floor with a crash, and you didn't look back as you kept running.
You heard a squeal and a thud..
Toriel had fallen.

Racing to the end door, you grasped it. Not yet relieved, you yanked and pulled, opening it slowly. It creaked and groaned as if it had not been used in a long while... that's when you noticed the blood staining the walls, and crusting around the door, preventing it from opening. You frantically gave the crusted blood a good kick and it crumbled off the wall, allowing the door to be opened.

Rushing through, you pushed the large door gradually, huffing and puffing with effort.

Suddenly, a claw shot through and grabbed the edges of the door, clinging on desperately like a cat to curtains. You panicked, pushing the door as hard as your physical strength allowed you. Toriel made a screeching sound as she ripped her claws away suddenly, and you slammed the door shut.

You did it...

You were safe now.

Your back to the wall, you slid down it in a long sigh.

Suddenly, soft sobs were heard from the other side of the door. A thump hit the door, and seemingly trailed down it, like a dog scratching a door to be let out. The sobbing grew heavier and the door was shuddering as Toriel leaned on it whilst she sobbed.

You looked at the door sadly with downcast eyes.

But then again, you had never been happier to leave a place of death, whether you wanted to stay or not.
