Golden walls with printed fabric drape across the window similar to the printed fabric of the blankets on the beds. The room is much larger than Louis' ever was and much more maintained. The floor is orderly, complementary towels folded in the bathroom as well as a nice sized tub. Louis would love a bath, the water washing away the grime of the past.
Harry has checked them into the most expensive hotel in the area, insisting that Louis deserved the best as his guest. Louis had no choice but to watch as Harry handed over the money for the room, a literal wad of cash placed in the palm of the desk clerk. The clerk's eyes had bugged out before he coughed into his fist, telling the busboy to quickly escort the pair to their room. Flight after flight of stairs they climbed until they had reached the top floor, the busboy directing them to the room and Harry handed him a nice tip.
Louis stares at the bath tub some more, wondering if the water would actually be warm in comparison to his tiny bathroom back home which hardly ever had running water.
"Favor a bath?" Harry asks. Louis gaze immediately flicks over to Harry who has made himself comfortable on one of the beds. Louis huffs as he walks over to the other bed, sitting down so his eyes are cast in the direction of the window instead of at Harry.
"Not really." As much as he would love a bath, he doesn't think it's very appropriate of him with Harry around. Hogging the bathroom in an effort to rid himself of the past will not bode well with Harry's impatience.
"Sure? Wouldn't you like to look your best for all those job opportunities?" Louis can feel his resolve crumbling. Presentation is the key to success. His mind whirs with the fantasy of finding a job and making a living for himself and once he has enough money, he'll buy a house over here and he can live the life he always dreamed of.
"I'd take up some time in there." Harry shrugs, removing his suit jacket and throwing it over the nearby chair.
"Don't worry, I'll be asleep anyway." Harry knew those words would seal the deal as Louis begrudgingly stands from the bed.
"Fine, I guess I'll see you in the morning." Louis hurries into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him quickly. In his haste, he failed to notice the fact that the door didn't latch properly, slowly creaking open as Louis moves forward to turn on the faucet. The sound of water drowns out the sound of the door, the opening growing larger until it finally settles into place. From his position on the bed, Harry can see the bathtub, the door open just enough to reveal a sliver of the room. He can faintly see the outline of Louis' body, the left side, as he removes his clothes. Inch by inch, skin is revealed to Harry's wandering eye and he fights to look away, finally doing so when Louis moves closer to the door.
Harry shuts his eyes, head turning almost all the way around so he can't see anymore. He holds his head in his hands as he rids himself of thoughts of the boy in compromising positions. It's not what he needs right now, especially with Louis being so young. Seventeen, he's seventeen, almost seven years younger than Harry and all his mind is telling him at the moment is to take the boy's innocence. He's not the kind of man, his profession may not be respectful, but his persona is. He would never ravish a man without his consent. Or one so young either.
Some deep breaths later, his heart rate has gone back to normal and his fatigue has caught up with him. His eyes stay closed as he removes his pants. Folding them and tossing them into the chair. He discards his hat, flopping it onto the dresser and finally lies back on the bed, body rustling as he settles into bed. Covering his frame, Harry turns onto his side- finding sleep comes easier that way. Minutes later, he's out cold.
Bath water laps at Louis' bare skin, warm and soothing. He hasn't properly bathed in forever, never wanting to waste the little source of water his family had at home. His shabby shack was nothing compared to this hotel room. The water came out nice and clean as opposed to his home front where water would need to be left on a minute to come out gunk free. The soap that rests on the side of the tub is also a far better quality than the cheap bar soap he'd grown accustomed to. Lavish would be the best word used to describe this bathroom.
Louis' had never experienced something like this before, a place where others serve you. His whole life, his parents taught him hard work is where the world is it. In order to get by, Louis would have to work his way to the top. It was his life philosophy- the sole rule lived by as he worked his butt off at the malt shop. He even dropped out of school going with the idea that his education was only getting in the way of him making it to the top. He started working full time, long hours spent making milkshakes and bussing tables. The day came when the boss called him into his office, Louis immediately ecstatic because this was it, he would be promoted. He had worked for it.
Sadly, the words that left the bosses mouth were not, 'you'll be the new manager, kid.' Instead they were, 'sorry kid, I gotta let you go.' Four years at that job only to be let go when the times got tough. From then on, it was hopping from gig to gig, trying to find something steady. It was harder than it should have been in his small town. So he ran, left without looking back, not like anyone would care. His mother was nice enough, but she was always working because his deadbeat father lived in the pub. He didn't want to end up like his father, so he took the chance and hopped on a train to anywhere. Harry had found him when he was barely turning in for some hours of sleep after having been awake for more than twelve hours. And now...
Now he's in New York and he's going to find a job, one where he can make enough money to make a better living than his parents. He'll create a life somewhere new, a clean slate. A new beginning to a wonderful life.
The night sky reminds Louis that he should be getting some sleep soon. He finishes his bath, patting his body dry with the softest towel he's ever come in contact with. His dirty clothes are scattered on the bathroom floor and he doesn't want to put them back on less he get dirty again from the grime on the clothes alone.
Peeking out of the bathroom, Louis makes sure Harry is completely asleep – the steady movement of his chest reassuring him that Harry, is in fact, sleeping- and cautiously tiptoes to the bed. His bare skin comes in contact with the silk linens and he sighs in approval as he makes himself comfortable. His tired eyes shut themselves, Louis only managing one last yawn before he's out like a light.
