Demi

"What do you mean I can't come in?" I groaned, knocking on the door where Jill was cutting my daughter's hair.

"Mac wants to surprise you Demi." Jill laughed. "I promise I'm not dying her hair purple."

"You better not be." I growled, but my frown turned into a smile when Nick wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my shoulder. I turned around and lazily draped my arms around his neck, smiling up at him. "I love you."

He softly kissed my lips. "I love you too... So what happens now? Do we just go back to the way things were before?"

I shrugged. "I suppose I can begin small planning. Give me a year. A year to plan, with no pressure, and then we'll get married."

"You can have all the time you want." He murmured, kissing me lightly.

"Momma! Are you ready?!" I smiled at Mac's high-pitched voice.

"Of course! I can't wait!"

The door opened, and Mac walked out, her hair was still long, but it now draped down her back in soft curls, clearly cleaned up and healthier.

"Wow!" I picked her up and kissed her cheek. "Baby girl it looks great!"

Nick smiled too and kissed her forehead. "You look like a million bucks Mac!"

"Did you say thank you to Auntie Jill?"

"Thaaaank you Auntie Jill." Mac drawled, and Jill laughed, walking out with her bag packed up and kissing Mac's cheek. "It's always a pleasure sweetie. I'll see you guys later. Demi, are we still doing Ellen next week?"

"Yeah, I'll text you about the details."

Once she left, Nick looked at me. "You're going on Ellen?"

I shrugged. "I want to start recording again. I want to do what I love and make music. This fall Mac will be going into school and I want to work. I can't just stay home all day like I do now. I'll drive myself insane. Mac is coming on Ellen with me and I'm going to announce my comeback."

"You're taking Mac on the show?"

"Yes?" I put Mac down. "Why don't you go wash your wash so we can leave soon sweetie." She ran off and I straightened back up, looking at Nick. "Why?"

"We didn't even talk about this."

I raised an eyebrow. "Why do we need to?"

"Because I don't want her getting so exposed to the media. One time when you first got her yeah, but to bring her into the spotlight when she's so young? Dems you know how that affected you."

I narrowed my eyes. "I'm her mother. I say it's fine and it's my decision."

"I'm her father."

"Not yet." I snapped. I hated it when Nick forced me into a corner with the 'I'm her dad' bullshit. "You're not her father yet. It's my job to make these decisions and I say it's fine."

He clenched his jaw. "I'm her dad Demi. Whether or not we're married I'm her father figure so I get a say in this."

"I've taken your opinion into account and I respectfully decline your judgement."

"I'm not going to let you capitalize on your child Demi!" The second the words left his mouth his eyes bulged. "Demi-"

"Do not say another word." I hissed. "You don't want to say another word to me, especially an apology because I don't want to ear it. I'm going to try and forget you just said that. You are not her father and you do not control me! I am her mother and she is my child. I intend to be her mother and make those decisions."

"Okay."

I marched past him into the bathroom, where Mac was washing her hands, singing her ABC's. I leaned against the doorway and smiled at her when she saw me in the mirror and finished, drying her hands on the towel I handed her.

"Do you wanna know where we're going?"

She nodded eagerly. "Is it McDonalds?"

I laughed and squatted down to her level, using a face wipe to clean around her mouth. "Nope. It's an even more fun place than that."

"What is it?!" She squealed.

"We're going to..." I paused as she stood up on her tippy-toes in excitement. "Trampoline world."

"YES!" Mac screamed, jumping up and down. She had been there once, with Marissa, and loved it. She had been begging me to go back for weeks. "YES YES YES!"

"Alright calm down! Let's go get you changed." I laughed, taking her hand and walking towards her bedroom. I picked out a hair of shorts and a t-shirt for her, and let her wear just flip flops, picking her up and walking downstairs where Nick stood. He too was in shorts and a tank top that showed off his cut arms. I kept my eyes forward and walked out the door. The car ride was about half an hour, because of LA traffic. Nick drove, and once we hit the highway, his hand slipped onto my thigh. I raised my eyebrows at him and glanced back at Mac who was thoroughly passed out, like she usually did on car rides over ten minutes.

"What are you doing?" I looked down at his hand then back up at his face.

"Please Demi? I'm sorry for what I said. It was a mistake that I didn't mean. I don't want to fight with you and I know you have a right to be angry but I miss you and I can't keep my hands off of you. Can we just be normal tonight and you can be pissed again tomorrow?"

I sighed and looked out the window. "Fine."

His hand slid up my thigh and he laced his fingers with mine, bringing my knuckles up to his lips to kiss my hand before putting both of out hands in my lap. I kept my eyes out the window, but a small part of me waned towards Nick. I didn't want to be mad at him, and sure, I'd said things out of anger that were stupid and meaningless, but it still hurt that he would think even more a moment in anger, that I would ever capitalize on my own daughter.

Thankfully, we got to the trampoline warehouse quickly, and I got out, taking Mac's hand, who woke up when we parked and was now already bouncing in excitement. We walked up to the front desk and checked in, then got our socks. When we walked into the trampoline room, Mac instantly screamed in excitement at the sight of Joe, Marissa, my mom, Eddie, Maddie, and all of my team.

"Demi did you rent out trampoline world for her?"

I glanced at Nick and nodded with a smile. "She's worth it."

He just shook his head and we both smiled as I watched Mac run up to Marissa and Maddie, and begin jumping. Soon, everyone dispersed around, playing games like dodgeball and jumping into the ball pit. I kept my eyes on Mac, who was like a maniac, running to everything she was allowed to do by herself and even some things she wasn't allowed to do. I lost sight of her after a few minutes, but quickly found her on line for the ball-pit jump, trying to look innocent.

"And what do you think you're doing?" I said, squatting behind her and making her jump.

"Mommaaaa." She groaned. "I wanna play in the ball pit!"

I smiled and took her hand. "Then we can jump together."

We got to separate edges of the platform and took three jumps before plunging into the ball pit. I heard Mac's squeal of thrill, and popped up to find her. She laid in the middle, flat on her back, giggling madly.

"Silly girl." I laughed, reaching over to tickle her stomach.

"Again momma!" She said, fighting her way to the edge of the ball pit.

So we did, again, and again, and again.
