Judes Point of View
I never knew that when I woke up on
this somewhat chilly August day that I would be meeting someone this important to me. It all started at school when I was eating lunch outside. It makes me feel sad outside sometimes because Connor and I spent a lot of time out here. Sometimes when I'm sitting out here alone I can't stop thinking about the life I could have had if he would have just stayed with me.
But nevermind that.
I wasn't just sitting here at lunch wasting my life away. I was waiting for my friend Taylor. She always knew what to say to make me feel better. It's kind of funny, everytime I'm alone I can feel her presence when she is approaching me and it brightens my day.
Speak of the devil.
Taylor: Hey Jude!
Jude: Hey, why so late to lunch?
Taylor: Sorry, I was on my way from third class and I got a phone call from my mom. She is working late tonight and wants me to make sure to go to youth group to keep myself out of the house.
Ever since the Connor foot incident Taylor's mom has been very wary of her being home alone.
Jude: Oh, what kind of stuff even goes on at a church youth group? I've never been to one.
Taylor: You know, we hang out and talk, mostly about God or our feelings. There are a lot of nice people there so I don't mind spending time there after school. Also getting closers to God is on my definite to do list.
Jude: I didn't know, I've never been to one before. I haven't exactly spent much time in a church at all.
Taylor: Hey if you want you can come and sit in with me.
Jude: Oh really?
Taylor: If you don't have anything else to do?
Jude: I'll have to ask my mom's but yeah I'd like to see what it's all about.
Taylor: Okay text me around 4 after school is out. I'll meet you out front if you can come.
Jude: Okay
Taylor: Don't worry. You won't regret it.
Four O'clock came and I had already stopped by mommas office and asked if I could go with Taylor to church. Of course she said yes I mean why wouldn't a parent let their child go to a church youth group.
Oh yeah the double mom's.
After getting lost into my thoughts for about five more minutes I finally made it to the front of the school. Taylor was out front waiting for me exactly where we planned. We didn't talk much about what was to come I guess she didn't want to freak me out or anything since it was a new experience for me.
The church was only a twenty minutes walk from our school. The somewhat chilly morning had grew hotter through the day which made the walk a little unbearbale.
I hope I'm not sweating too much.
Did I wear enough deodorant?
Will the church try to spray me with holy water if I stink?
Snap out of it.
Taylor: Okay were here just follow my lead and you will be just fine.
I nodded with relief.
I hope she hadn't talked to me while we were walking I was way into my head.
We crossed into a large room with tons of teenagers in it. They all seemed to be having a good time and no eyes were on me yet
Thank god. Literally.
As we made it half way through the room when I heard a voice coming from behind us.
It was kind of mid range with a bit of a raspy side to it.
???: Hey Taylor!
I turned around and to my surprise I seen a guy just about my height. He had green eyes and short brown hair. The hugest smile on his face I've ever seen but his eyes were kind of squinted.
Maybe his eyes caught the light at the wrong time?
Taylor: Hey Noah it's great to see you! Oh by the way I want you to meet my friend jude.
Noah: Hey Jude, my name is Noah nice to meet you.
I couldn't really belive this was happening. At school most guys tried to avoid me so it felt very weird for one to just introduce himself with ease.
Jude: Hi Noah, nice to meet you too.
After that Taylor began to talk to Noah about his school life and something about a problem of his from last week's group.
I need to start paying more attention when people are talking around me.
Group Leader: Okay everyone we are going to be starting out first activity. If you could please sit down in front of someone you didn't come here with and place your hands on each other's.
I was hoping that Taylor would pretend that we didn't know each other but when she started to book it to the other side of the room I got the hint.
Noah: Hey Jude do you need a partner?
What do I do what do I do what do it do????
Jude: No will you be mine... my parter I mean.
Oh great now I'm going to sound like a creep from the get go.
Noah: Of course.
We casually sat down facing each other. For a moment it felt like we were the only two in the room.
Just Me,
Noah,
and
his breath taking green eyes.
