"I should've dropped this subject. It's more advanced than I'd thought it was," Albus was grumbling as he drew a long line across the parchment irately to cancel out two, long and comparatively indecent sentences.

"You're going to drop it even after you've achieved 'Exceeds Expecations' for your Potions O.W.L.s?" Scorpius asked rationally. "After the hard work last year?"

Albus, still with his head bent down over his essay, looked at Scorpius without turning his head up and cocked an eyebrow, as though the answer was stamped all over his face.

They were two months in their sixth year already, after apprehensively waiting to get their Ordinary Wizarding Level results back in their summer holidays. Scorpius hadn't been as edgy as Albus, who had described all of his emotions in the letters that they had been unceasingly writing to each other since the start of the summer holidays. It was mainly because Scorpius had been focusing really hard on his studies since the beginning of their fifth year. As a result, he'd gotten all 'Outstanding's except for Care of Magical Creatures – by which he'd received 'Poor' – and Divination – enough with 'Acceptable'.

His father, Draco, had advised him to proceed with his Potions studies, as well as Defence Against the Dark Arts, after he'd received his results. Presumably, Scorpius was to apply a job at the Ministry after he'd finished school, just like his father had. But, in truth, he really wanted to be a Healer at St. Mungo's and help people, be it a wizard or a Muggle. When he told Albus about this, he'd consented with Scorpius' notion, since Scorpius had the traits to become a Healer and all – according to Albus anyway. And Albus had added; "If I fall sick one day, you'll have to be in charge with me at all times and it'll be free." Which clearly was, as dry-humoured as Albus Potter can be, meant as a joke.

Nevertheless, Scorpius took it seriously; he'd do anything for Albus Potter.

Since the start of their first-year, Scorpius had become aware of his feelings towards Albus Potter (he didn't want to label Albus as to who he was to Scorpius, owing to the fact that he didn't just see him as a 'best friend' even though Albus referred him as one). Albus, to him, was exceptional. It wasn't because Albus had resolved to sit with him on their first day of riding the Hogwarts Express, claiming that he was only staying for the sweets Scorpius had brought along. Well, Scorpius did think it was because of that. But some feelings didn't go away. They didn't remain either. In fact, they kept multiplying.

It was always something that he couldn't quiet comprehend, apart from the fact that it was merely a phase of growing up as an adolescent.

And Scorpius, already knowing he was a different boy, was left with no other alternative than to admit that he had taken liking towards Albus, which he later found out in his second year happened to not only be an ordinary "like", rather, it was affection. Infatuated, if he were to describe it precisely. He had sensed it already when Albus – along with his cousin, Rose Granger-Weasley, who happened to detest him – came into his compartment before the start of their first year. Undeniably, Albus had always been an attractive boy, even at a young age. But his good appearance wasn't the whole case.

Scorpius simply fancied Albus Potter. And he was absolutely certain of it.

It didn't rest there, however. Scorpius had thought that his feelings would soon fade, and he would move on to someone else, so he would start referring Albus as his best friend wholeheartedly in his mind and heart, not just "Albus Potter" without any sorts of a categorisation. But he never had. In fact, the feelings kept blossoming. And he kept getting jumbled as to how he should tell his mind to signify Albus as. It always started like this; Albus Potter is my ... and he would trail off. My what? He often asked himself. There were a lot of nouns coming after the single "my", yet he couldn't put a finger to one. For all he knew, one that he was completely certain of, was that he didn't just see Albus as his best friend.
