PROLOGUE

Lauren Davis was more than just a simple girl who wants to be the greatest magician in the world. But of course, she is a dreamer, and she wants to achieve more for herself, apart from doing tricks and illusions of her own. She always wants to be known for more than just her magic - she wants to be known as someone who can do more than that, be better than that.

See, Lauren doesn't really have very much to work with. Growing up in a society full of magicians, who wouldn't expect her to be one of them as well? But she is. She already is.

And she loves it. Tricks, illusions, deception - it brings a certain kind of rush to her being, something that she hardly feels with anything else.

But apart from it, she has always had a certain longing for something else, or rather someone else. She wants to experience everything that a normal girl would feel - love, heartbreak or anything really. She has been exposed to a world where controlling one's perception is perceived as normal, and she wanted to change that. She just wants someone to see her for who she is, who she really is.
