Lauren takes a deep breath before she enters the all too familiar building in East Evan street. She stared at it for a while as she laced her arms around Keith's, steadying herself by burying her head on his shoulders.
Of course, this building isn't new to her as Dylan had already brought her here just as they were setting up the room for the meet up of the Five Horsemen.
"This is it." Lauren said just as Keith tightened the grip he has on Lauren's right arm.
"Don't forget about me, okay?" Keith asked as he leans his head on Lauren's, making her feel secure in his arms.
Lauren and Keith has always been so close ever since they met. When they were introduced to each other when they were both just 17 years old, they immediately hit it off. Dylan was so happy with the decision he made in bringing them together because they have always brought out the best in each other. Lauren is more of the hands-on magician and Keith is more of the underground magician who likes to keep his tricks using his computer system, as he is more of a hacker than a real magician.
They teach each other what they know ever since, with Lauren always forcing Keith to learn how she does her card tricks and illusions. Keith has been teaching Lauren his hacking skills and she has been improving, that's why The Eye chose her -- she is more of a magician than Keith and she already has certain knowledge in hacking so aside from the fact that her magic skills will come to play, the Horsemen will need someone good with the technical things, that's why Dylan and Jessica always tell Lauren she's the missing piece - because she actually is. She's the perfect package they need.
Lauren lifted her head but kept her arms intertwined to Keith's.
"Hey Danny, I'm not you assistant anymore." Someone, a lady, said from behind them. "Excuse me." She said again as she pass through Keith and Lauren, with Lauren looking down so she won't be noticed.
"That's her, right?" Keith whispered on her ear just as the red-head and a man walked inside the apartment building they're standing in front at.
Just by her hair, Lauren immediately knew who it was. "Henley." Lauren whispered back to Keith. "Who's the other?"
"Wasn't able to see him clearly." Keith said, peeking through the door of the building. "But Henley mentioned the name Danny, so he's probably the Atlas guy?"
Lauren nodded as she takes another sigh, readying herself for what's about to come. "I should probably go." She said, pulling away from Keith.
Keith bit his bottom lip as he rans a hand across his dark brown hair. He doesn't usually show what he feels, especially to Lauren, but right now, he can't seem to hide how sad he is feeling. "I'm going to miss you, Lau. Really." He said with a sigh.
Lauren immediately threw her arms around Keith's, hugging him tight as she places her hands around his shoulders. "I'll miss you too, Keith. So much." She said as Keith pulled her closer towards him. "It's like I'm getting a new life, and I don't want it. I don't want to let anything of this old life of mine to go. I can't." Lauren added as she felt her voice breaking. This is it, her new life will start the moment she enters this beat up apartment.
Keith pulled away and he placed a gentle hand on Lauren's cheek, wiping a tear that had fallen from her right eye. "You're not supposed to let go, okay?" Lauren replied just with a nod. "And hey, we can still keep in touch. You're going to be living here in New York for a while, right? We can still see each other." Keith said, hoping to make Lauren feel better.
And she did. She knows she may just be exaggerating a bit but she knows Keith's right. She can still hold on to a few aspects of her old life.
