"Wow, ok... Go check with the boss in the back." He said as he walked me into a back office.
"Right through here." He said while he walked away.
"Thanks..." I say while I walk in.
"Oh, um hello there." Said an old woman.

She looked old but at the same time her voice sounded young.
"Hi, yes I came here to fill out a job application..." I said with a smile.
"Oh of course!" She said quickly and ran over to me.
"Thanks..." I said while taking the paper from her wrinkly hand.
"You know what! We need help right away!"
"Can you roll on skates?" She asked
"Yes..." I said weirded out.
"Can you role and hold food?" She asked even more excited.
"I'm pretty sure..." I said with a laugh.
"You got the job now go get changed, the bathroom is on the right." She said while handing me an outfit.
"Ok then..." I said while walking out.

I head to the bathroom and get changed in one of the stalls. I walk out and my jaw almost hit the floor. I look in the mirror to see me wearing an old diner looking outfit. I had on a short dress with shorts underneath. I had an apron wrapped around my waist, and on my back it said, "Hefty's Diner." I decided to put my hair in a high ponytail. I walked back to the woman's office sneakily, so no one would see me. I slowly walk in.

"Oh my..." She said
"Honey, you look as cute as a peach."
She said while pinching my cheeks.
"Well honey my name, is Mrs.Hefty and you are?" She said while handing me a pair of skates.
"Um, Eve.." I said while kinda blushing.
"A beautiful name to match a beautiful girl." She said while smiling.

"Thank you..." I said with an awkward smile.
"Now, go put those skates on and I'll get Johnnie to train you." She said with another smile.
"Yes ma'am." I said while walking out.

I put my shoes on, and I skate out to the front. My heart was beating so fast. I was so nervous I would make a mistake or break something. I make it to the front, almost tripping over a bump in the floor. Everyone turns around and looks at me up and down. I could see people whispering back and forth.

"Hey..." I said while skating up to Johnnie.
I never got to see Johnnie so up close. He had long black emo hair just like Brody's. And he had a lip piercing.

"Oh, umm hey I didn't see you there." He said while looking me up and down.
I felt so awkward. I never wear dresses. Especially short ones.

"Well it's simple." He said with a big smile.
"All you do is take their order, come back here and hang it up, and when their foods done, you take it to them, easy." He said while writing down some people's order.

"Ok we'll be right back with your food." He said while he took my hand and brought me to the back kitchen. The kitchen looks messy, but organized at the same time. It had all sorts of frying pans, stoves, ovens, you name it. It was huge.

"So do u need me to help you with your first order?" Johnnie asks me as I try to get the hang of roller skating around the diner. "Um, yeah. I might need some help. I'm known for messing everything up..." I said. "Hahah okay. I'll help. But only once. You should also memorize the diners menu. It's super simple, so it shouldn't be complicated."

We make it to the table, and he places the family's food on the table. "Tank wu!!" the little boy said. I couldn't help but giggle at the little boys cute voice.
"Anytime little man." I said while laughing.
"You guys enjoy, and if you need anything just ask." Said Johnnie while me and headed back to the kitchen.
"See? You're a natural!" Said Jonnie while he gave me a little shake.
"I guess so..." I said with an awkward smile.
"You should go home and study the menu." He said while handing me one of them.
"Um right." I said while skating to the back.

I changed into my normal clothes and I put my other stuff in my new tiny locker. I hold on tight to the menu. This should take my mind off everything else, while I'm earning some cash. I slowly make my way to the front. I checked the time. It was 10pm and no one was here. Some people were just cleaning off the tables and restocking everything. Just then Johnnie walks in from outside.

"Do you have a ride home? I didn't see a car out there..." He said while taking off his apron.
"I walked." I said while sitting on one of the bar stools.
"I can give you a ride home. Let me go change." He said while running to the locker room. He was to quick I couldn't say no thank you. I didn't want to be rude so I just sat and waited.

A few minutes later, Mrs.Hefty walks out from the back.
"Great job today sweetie!" She said while giving me hug.
"Thank you. Now what time should I be over here tomorrow?" I asked
"Mmm, 5:30pm, and you'll get out at 10."
"Ok, I'll be here." I said with a smile.
"Well I'm leaving early, tell Johnnie to lock up." She said while walking outside.
"Yes ma'am!" I yelled.

Jonnie finally walks out. He was wearing a red soft looking T-shirt. And he had some ripped skinny jeans with black converse. With his messy long black hair and his lip piercing.
"Sorry I got lost in time." He said while turning off the kitchen light.
"Your fine." I said with a yawn.
"Tired?" He said while leading me out.
"Yea, a little..." I said.

We both walk out of the diner and Johnnie locks up behind me.
He unlocks his car and I hop in the front.
"So, where do you live?" he asked while turning on his car.
"I live in the oak tree apartments, and the reason I got this job is so I can pay my rent..." I said with an awkward laugh.
"Oh, that's a while from here and you said that you walked here?!" He said kinda worried.
"Well ran actually..." I said awkwardly.
"Oh well that's why you were so tired..." As he started to realize.

Johnnie finally pulls out of the parking lot.
The whole way there no one said anything, I just stared out of the window, looking at all the passing cars and lights.
My eyes slowly shut but jolt right back open. You need to stay awake Eve! But I slowly drift away completely. Forgetting that I'm in Johnnies car.

I wake up feeling someone's hair touching my nose. I open my eyes slightly, and I see Johnnie carrying me up the steps. He slowly shakes me awake.
"Where's your key?" He whispered.
"In my pocket..." I said still half asleep.
He stares at my pocket for a second.
He gives out a sigh and digs for my key.

Johnnie pulls the key out of my pocket and slowly opens the front door.
"Nice place." He whispered.
He walks to the back room and places me on my bed.
"Thank...you..." I say while I turn over and fall asleep.

"Good night Eve...." He whispered as he moved the hair out of my face.
