Akhila ran as fast as she could, she had to be on time, if she was late, she didn't know what the mistress would do. Akhila had stayed out with her friend, chimney, and lost track of time. she knew what would happen if the mistress found her coming home late. she shivered at the thought. she didn't want that to happen. Akhila could feel herself slowing down. she was tired. she knew that she didn't have time to stop and rest, she had to get to the house. she took a breath and increased her speed. she was going to be in so much trouble.
as Akhila reached the front door of the house, she slowed down, and began to walk up the front steps. she slipped through the cat door, which was way too small for her anyway, and started to creep down the hall. she walked over to her bed, which was really a dignified old towel, and plopped down on it. she needed a rest, after running so hard, she was exhausted. she didn't bother to go to her water bowl for a drink, because she knew that it was empty anyways. she laid there, on that towel, just trying to fall asleep, but she couldn't. she was way too scared. she was scared that what happened yesterday would happen there. yesterday, as she fell asleep, her mistress walked in and hit her with a stick, while she was sleeping. she immediately got up and began to cower under her. "did i say you could sleep, you stupid cat! NO!" she remembered the mistress saying. yep, mistress was insane, but Akhila couldn't defy her, she was much too afraid. she'd rather listen to the mistress and try not to get on her bad side, than try to say "no" and definitely get on her bad side. so there she was, just laying there, too afraid to fall asleep and too tired to get up. until... "YOU STUPID CAT!" said the mistress, storming in the kitchen, were Akhila lay. Akhila jumped up, not worrying about how tired she was. "oh, there you are. let me ask you something, CAT. aren't you supposed to be getting the mice? well cat last i checked you were!" said the mistress, angrily. "then why have i found this!" mistress held up a mouse by the tail, right in front of Akhila's nose. the mouse was squirming around, trying to break free from its captor, but, like akhila, it could go anywhere. then Akhila heard her master, the mistresses husband, speak from the other room. "why are you talking to the stupid cat again!? it probably doesn't even understand you! just hit it with the stick until it understand what it has ti do! it should get just at some point, right?" when he said that, Akhila gulped. although the master said that akhila couldn't understand anything, she sure understood that.
Akhila prepared herself for the massive beatdown she knew she was about to have. she knew she couldn't avoid it, and if she tried to run away, she would surely be punished.she just stood there, hopelessly, awaiting her punishment, and it came indeed:
(the beating)
Akhila limped toward the mouse hole and waited. she really didn't know what else to do. this seemed to please the mistress enough to leave the room. when mistress left Akhila sat and cried to herself. she hated it there! she wanted to leave but she couldn't! she was afraid of the outside world and she was afraid that if she did leave, mistress would find her and punish her. she wa stuck, and she didn't know what to do about it.
TILL NEXT TIME!!
