it was midnight, the moon providing the little bit of light that shone against akhila's fur, and the stars glistening in the dark. Akhila paced back and forth, worrying that chimney might not make it, but, as if he had read her mind, he popped his head up from behind a bush.
"sorry akhila," he started, "i had to take care of something, but i'm here now. so, ya' ready to go?"
akhila glanced nervously at him, then to the 'outside' then back at him, and with a big sigh she said, "as ready as ill ever be."
"great!" said chimney. "lets go! ill lead the way! to.. uhh... protect you! in case some wild cats try to hurt you!"
his confidence made her giggle. "oh really?" she said in a joking tone. "wow, you are SO big and brave." she chuckled as she walked past him and into the woods.
"hey! akhila! wait up!!" said chimney as he bolted into the woods after her.
they walked quietly and slowly in the bushes, as to not be heard by any other creature. akhila was scared and nervous, but she kept on. she kept telling herself, 'you cant go back. the mistress will punish you if you go back' and this gave her the motivation to continue. akhila was just getting comfortable walking in the woods when she heard a loud rustling in the bushes. she jumped back! she had never fought another cat before, let alone another animal in general! she was so scared, she didnt know what she was supposed to do. just then chimney jumped into the bushes!
"i think i got it!!" he yelled back.
"almost!! and.... GOT IT!" he yelled from the bushes, and within a matter if seconds he came waltzing out with a small mouse in his jaws.
"look akhila!" he said triumphantly, with his small catch in his mouth. "i got it!!"
akhila sighed a sigh of relief that it wasnt something out to get her,m and that it was simply a puny mouse. akhila had experience with catching mice, for she did it for her old mistress. it was also her only food supply, since the mistress didn't feed her. she looked at the small mouse and her stomach growled. chimney noticed this and plopped the mouse in front of her.
"for you!~" he said, as he sat down.
"chimney, i couldn't. you caught it! you deserve to eat it." she warmly replied.
"no, i ate before we left. i know you haven't though. so, please akhila, eat." he insisted.
akhila gave a sigh and began to bite into the mouse, which made chimney smile. she was expecting to bite into it and taste the same old mouse that she ate everyday, but when she bit into it, she experienced a whole new flavor! and it was exquisite! she had never tasted mouse this good before!
"chimney!," she said after chewing and swallowing, "this is the best mouse i have ever tasted! you have to have a bite!" she said nudging the mouse to him.
chimney got up and padded over to the mouse, were he took a small bite of it. akhila noticed that when he bit it his eyes seemed to light up.
"its good right!" she said, and chimney replied with a small nod as he went in for another bite. akhila giggled and also went down for another bite, and in that moment, their noses touched each other. akhila immediately pulled away, while chimney stood there blushing. akhila felt her face grow warm as she tried to stutter an apology.
"i-im sorry, chimney. it was a mistake i swear!"
"i-its okay, akhila." stuttered chimney with his face looking like a tomato. "it was an accident, n-no big deal." he sighed as he put his paws in front of him a stretched. chimney really did have feelings for akhila, but he couldn't tell her, and after see the reaction she gave him when they touched noses, it was impossible to think that she could ever feel the same way about him as he did her, right?
just then, a huge black and white tom flew out of the bushes and pinned chimney down to the ground.
"who are you! and what are you doing in thunderclan territory!!" he snapped.
chimney used his hind legs to kick the outside cat off of him before answering.
"we do not want any trouble!" he meowed.
"then why are you in thunderclan territory!" the tom hissed as he jumped up and bit the hind leg of chimney.
chimney screeched and clawed at the strange cat's back, making claw marks deep in his flesh. the two cats wrestled for no more than a minute before akhila jumped in and split the two up.
"stop it!" she yowled, which caused both cats to give her their undivided attention. the strange tom hissed at her, while he licked his wounds clean.
"what is this about?!" akhila demanded.
"you are in thunderclan territory!" hissed the tom. "whatever clan you are from, tell your leader that thunderclan will not tolerate you coming into our side of the forest!"
"clan? what's a clan?"
"y-you arent from a clan? thats it then! ROUGE CATS! you think that you can just come in to thunderclan territory and snack on anything you want!" hissed the tom, which made akhila jump. she was sincerely confused. what was a clan? why was this area of the woods so important to them.
"tell me, about this 'thunderclan'" akhila mewed softly, in her normal, calm, caring tone of voice.
"i aint tellin nothin!" snapped the tom, as he continued to lick the claw marks now engraved in his skin and fur.
"alright then, take me to the clan." said akhila, testing this old tom cat.
"akhila, what are doing!" mewed chimney. "are you nuts!"
the tom cat spat at akhila, "why do you need to go there! you should leave this place, before i have to take extreme measures" he threatened. akhila was immune to this threat, since she has been through much worse punishment.
"take me there, or i will never leave this place, and i will hunt as i please." she said to him ever so calmly. this made the tom growl at her, but she stood her ground.
"fine!" he snapped. "but you do not come with me as an alliance, you came with me as a prisoner."
akhila nodded as he got up and began to walk deeper into the woods. akhila follwed and chimney stopped her.
"akhila, have you gone insane!!" he snapped at her, " we cant trust this WILD cat!"
"trust me," she replied, "i have a plan.
