Ziva slipped the key into the lock, and soundlessly opened the front door of her farmhouse.

She could make out the muffled sound of her mother's screams of anger coming from their room down the hall. Ziva sighed and shook her head.

.
Her parents didn't have exactly what you would call a happy marriage.
.

Ziva made her way to the kitchen table, and as suspected, she saw empty bottles of wine all over the table.

Ziva's father had a drinking problem. But, Ziva considered herself lucky. At least he only drank himself to unconsciousness at night, and not all day long. He never got drunk at work, or in the morning. Just at night- when they were alone.

Ziva made her way to her bedroom, and sat her gym bag on the floor by her twin sized bed. She ran her fingers through her hair, and tried to block out her mother's sobs and angry screams.

"ELI!!! Why do you do this to me?!" Ziva heard her mother shout.

"I'm not doing anything to you. Rivka!" Ziva's father said with a frustrated tone. "You are emotionally unstable! You are truly pathetic. Look at yourself!"

.
Ziva winced at her father's words. She then heard banging on the wall, and assumed it was her mother's hand colliding with the wall with sheer frustration.
.

"ME?! PATHETIC??!! I'M NOT THE DRUNK WHO MAKES EVERYONE SO MISERABLE!!" She screamed the loudest Ziva had ever heard her mother scream. "You make me so miserable! You make MY daughters miserable! And you don't even seem to care!!"

"Rivka!! I can't talk to you like this when you are this unstable. I do not make my daughters unhappy! I'm their rock, they turn to me for support."

Ziva heard her mother chuckle with sobs. "You are blind". Rivka spatt. "You are never there for them!! You don't show that you love them!! YOU ARE DELUSIONAL!!"

.
Ziva's attention immediately turned to a different sound of crying coming from the room right next to her's. Tali's room.

Full of concern, Ziva quickly hurried to her little sister's room and peeked inside the dark room. She saw Tali curled up in a ball in her bed. Her hands were to her ears, and she was sobbing.

"It's ok Tali. Zivi's here". Ziva said gently as she went to her sister's side. She kneeled down next to the bed, and cradled Tali's upper body in her arms.

Still sobbing, Tali spoke. "Why is Ima mad?" She asked.

Ziva felt a tear roll down her cheek at Tali's question. She rocked her, and kissed her on the top of her head. "Abba made Ima very angry". Ziva tried to explain the complicated situation. "Shh it's ok".

Tali shuddered as another ear-splitting scream of anger reached their ears.

"Shh". Ziva tried to sooth Tali. "It will be over soon. You should sleep".

Tali turned to look at Ziva. "But I can't sleep". She pouted a little. "Can you ask Ima to sing me a lullaby? I always fall asleep when Ima sings to me".

Ziva felt her heart break. "Not today, Tali. Right now isn't the best time". She tried to explain. "Do you want me to sing you one?"

Tali nodded, and nestled her head on the pillow. Ziva took a deep breath while she softly sang a Hebrew lullaby to her sister. The lullaby was called 'Numi Numi'. The singing lulled Tali to sleep, and Ziva kissed her temple as she sang the last verse.

Ziva stood up, and walked back to her room. She groaned as she stretched her sore muscles. Exhausted from her training today, she flopped on the bed. She turned her head to glance at the digital clock on her nightstand. It read 9:00pm.

Ziva sighed and peeled herself of the bed. She slipped into pajamas, washed her face, and brushed her teeth and her hair. Ziva trudged back to her bed, and fell asleep almost immediately.

She was asleep as soon as her head came in contact with her pillow.

I felt so sad writing this chapter 😢. But hopefully you like it so far. More Krav Maga coming up next!
