Love Conquers All

Chapter 6

We all look towards the slam of the door, claiming that Liam was now back from wherever he had gone. He was huffing like he was out of breath and he seemed to know what he had just walked in on when all the other boys were staring at him with worried looks.

"You tell her?" Liam asked carefully. He sighs when we all shake our heads no. "How long have they been gone? Is it safe to be here Zayn?"

"They've been gone for a good fifteen minutes. You're fine," Zayn said calming him down. He still had his arm wrapped around me and I really would've moved away from him to get to the point, but I really need to be comforted.

"Why wouldn't it be safe?" I questioned Liam. He huffed out a breath and started rubbing the back of his neck.

"This..this situation has happened before. A girl before you had five mates, and the court, those three people who had just came, were confused about it but they didn't do anything about it. They thought it was fine. The girl was mighty fine and sweet, so they didn't fear anything about it," he started. He nudged Zayn over so he could sit down beside me. He took my hand in his and kissed it. "Her name was Violet. She was your age and she only knew her mates for a month before things went bad. The guys bonded her and changed her just like any vampire would do when they meet their mate," Liam continued with a gloomy voice. "The human is supposed to get their mate's vampire power when they change so that meant the girl was going to have all five of their powers."

"So she had the power to control emotions, levitate things, multiply, stretch her body to great heights, and read thoughts," Harry states.

"Her mates didn't take any precautions so when she turned, she was a newborn so she had no control over her actions. She used her powers against them and escaped. She killed two hundred and thirty-seven people that day. The court had to come in and kill her."

"If you kill someone's mate, that person will come for revenge so her mates attacked the court when they heard about their mate's death," Zayn intervened.

"Except for one."

I looked at Liam when he said that. Except for one? Who had ran away? "Who?" I asked the five.

"Me."

I widened my eyes then. Liam? Liam had a love before me? Was that possible? I thought you only had one? He reached over and gently brushed my hair to the side. "I still had my head and thought things through. They were going to kill me if I tried to attack them. They are so much stronger than other vampires so instead I ran away. They think I killed myself," Liam said and looked down. I could tell he was sad and missed her. I ignored my stupid jealous feelings and tried comforting him by hugging him. He kissed my cheek and hugged me back.

"You don't know pain before you lose your other half. When you're mentally tied to someone in so many ways and you're stupidly in love with them. So in love that you only know of them and them only. You don't take notice or care about anything else," Liam whispered in my ear. I nodded against his shoulder and I could feel his smile against my head.

"I'm ok now love. I have another shot at love and that's you. I'll make sure the samething doesn't happen again. I know what to expect this time," he says as he squeezes my waist. I nod again and confidently lean back and kiss him on the lips. I really couldn't imagine being in Liam's shoes. Losing the one person you love dearly and with all your heart just because they couldn't control themselves and killed tons of people. He must've felt extremely betrayed when Violet used his own power against him and ran away. Watching the love of your life running away from you and killing people. What did they even tell her friends and family anyway? Did she kill them? My heart sinks when I remember my parents.
