Superstar In Training- Chapter 2
"Well Ms. Gabby I'm going to assume you'll be riding with Mr. James tonight is that correct?" Bobby asked me while we pulled into the hotel. I slightly nodded, using all of my strength to keep the blush off of my face.
As we drove past the front of the hotel, I saw a minor crowd of fans, a sight that for some strange reason has become common. "Bobby will you drop me off here please?" I asked innocently, trying not to make it suspicious that I want to get out over half a mile from where the back entrance was. Alex eyed me with a look of curiosity. But when Bobby looked at him for approval, Alex still nodded his head.
"Well alright, I'll see bright and early tomorrow at 7:30."
"Eh, don't remind!" I responded while opening the door and pulling on a sweater over the hideous dress. I really need to talk to Simon about what they are putting me into nowadays. And about Mrs. Abby having access to my twitter and instagram. Come to think about it, I have a hell of a lot to talk to him about.
A girl with blonde hair wearing a black shirt with KNIGHT printed across it spotted me first. She nudged the red head next to her, and that's when the commotion started. Alex quickly placed his hand on the small of my back while a horde of teenagers ran toward me. I took my first photo with the blonde, snapping a quick silly face with her.
"Oh my God. I can't believe I'm actually meeting you. Oh my gosh Gabby you're my idol and my name is Jessica and you're such an inspiration and my twitter name is jessicastyl-" Before she could finish, a black haired girl near the back yelled:
"Hey! Give the rest of us a chance to see her too!" Well that was a little rude.
"Hey! You!" I pointed toward the culprit who pulled an innocently confused face, "I don't appreciate you being rude to people, especially my fans. I was going to try and get photos with all of you no matter what, so it wouldn't matter if one girl talked to me for a little bit. I don't like rude people, and what you just did was incredibly rude and unnecessary. I think my girls deserve an apology!" I exclaimed at her.
She was utterly speechless, which is why I knew she wasn't a real fan. All of my girls have seen me talk like this for them before; they would never be surprised I spoke out on their behalf. But it wasn't until after I had made my point and finished that I felt Alex's tight grip on my wrist, which was an unspoken sign I was in trouble. I did a scan, and realized how many cameras were on me. Shit.
But I wasn't in real trouble until I saw the man not much further than 20 feet from the herd of girls. Of course I would get caught right at this exact moment by a fucking pap. I wish they could just stay out of my business for once.
I see the headlines now: Gabby Knight attacks harmless fan! And I knew exactly what the photos looked like. My mother always told me I had the most hideous yelling face she has ever seen. No doubt these assholes will have a field day with it.
But then all hell broke lose. One girl followed my gaze, spotting the man. She yelled out something I couldn't exactly decode. Then half the group turned and started yelling at the man, screaming various phrases like "Fuck off!" and "Give the girl some space man, jeez!" It really warmed my heart.
From all the yelling and commotion, I barely registered Alex's close proximity and whisper saying, "I think it would be best if we got out if here."
I agreed in my mind, but I couldn't just leave my fans. So while the man retreated back behind the bush to go back to whatever toilet he came from, I responded. "Not until I get pictures with them. There are only what, 12 of them?"
Alex sighed and gripped the bridge of his nose. He knew fighting with me was useless; he had already lost so many he knew it's best to leave me be. I silently chuckled and everyone slowly turned back, as if making sure the rat didn't show his face again.
I proceeded to take the red head's phone and snapped a photo with her. She looked as if she would burst out crying. I quickly held her shoulder, although she was slightly taller then me. She looked into my eyes and my heart broke. You could literally see the shattered pieces behind them. I silently took her into a tight embrace, putting her pieces together. I quietly whispered, so no one else could disturb the conversation. "What's a matter?"
She sniffled and pulled away. "It's just... you... you are so... so perfect... and I love you... and you have done so many amazing things... and I just can't believe I'm meeting my idol..." She blubbered out. I couldn't help the ache in my chest. I know a lot of my girls had or are going through tough times-hell I'm going through my own set of them right now-but this just felt different.
I brought up the photo of us from her phone which I still held, "Yeah, there is one perfect person in this photo you could say," I started. I then pointed to Alex whose head was in between us, although he wasn't paying attention. She laughed and I felt happy, real happiness. "That's not true, he's not perfect. He farts a lot." Everyone surrounding us, who I seemingly forgot about, chuckled too.
"The one perfect person in this photo is," I pointed to her. "Don't you ever forget that darling, I love you so much."
I quickly took photos, but it wasn't until the last photo that I had another conversation. A girl with a shirt reading "Knight for Life" asked me sweetly but loudly. "Are you going to see James tonight?"
The flare of heat on my cheeks was answer enough, but I nodded and stuttered out, "Ye-yeah I am." Adding a smile at the end.
The girl smiled widely and squealed out "O-M-G you two are O-T-P!" Multiple other girls murmured and agreed along with her.
"Oh, well thank yo-"
"Gabriella, your mom needs to speak with you. Right now." Alex spoke up from behind me. Gently gripping my shoulder. The girls who I were just speaking with all "Oooohhhed" around me, which caused my blush to deepen. I must have done something wrong, again.
"Ladies." Alex said sternly, parting the sea of bodies. That's one of the best things about my fans. They are all so well "behaved", unless of course you do something to upset. Bipolar would be the best way to describe us.
I was ushered through the lobby, but still caught a glimpse of the wall clock. It's only 4 o'clock, giving me enough time to receive my lecture and still get ready. While Alex pressed the elevator up button, I sent James a quick text.
Me: And the attire for tonight would be...?
Alex guided me into the elevator while I read James response.
James: Casual I suppose, but extra warm haha
"Alexander would you happen to know what I did this time?" I asked innocently while the elevator traveled upward to level 32.
"You know Ms. Knight there are so many endless possibilities..." He teased, tousling my hair. "Just kidding kiddo, you surprisingly-for once-aren't in trouble. She claims to just have some... 'Good news'." He gave the words air quotes. I couldn't help the uneasy feeling in my stomach.
Then there was ding, and I was ushered off the elevator in front room 3205. Alex inserted his copy of the key and pushed the door open with his foot. My mother was bent over on her bed, elbows on her knees, hands cradling her head. She quickly looked up, her eyes bloodshot. But despite her painful appearance she still flashed me her killer grin.
I knew it was good news... but I just didn't know for whom.
"I'll leave you two ladies to it, I'm just across the hall." Alex lips turned into a sympathetic smile that should've been meant for me, but was directed straight to my mother.
My mother nodded at him and he quietly shut the door. She then motioned for me to come sit next to her on the bed. As my feet padded across the small distance my mind reeling with endless possibilities.
