Welcome to Tessa's new adventure! If you haven't read "If I live forever, I can live now" yet, you should do so before reading this book, because this is a sequel. You can find it on my profile.

There was fire. Well, there wasn't, but there was. It got to me from that electric, destructive soul; the red sparks that it always produced lit everything up. The air was thick and hot. The wind moved the sand and it landed on my skin. And it burnt it.

My throat burnt as well. I didn't know what to say. I was trapped in a labirynth of hatred and despair. Even if it was out in the open, the combination of those two factors turned it into a death sentence. But I had to try.

"Do you remember when we talked about how similar death and desire are?" I asked, as another wave of burning sand made my legs itch. My feet sunk further into the dune. I was sinking too. There was no way out.

"Don't try to get my mind of what I need to do, Tessa. You won't get around me this time."

I looked around to check if someone would attend that very special form of liberation party. But there was nobody around.

"You are crazy." I said, and I swallowed.

"You made me crazy."

I couldn't argue that, it was true.

"I never would have guessed that would be dangerous for me. I thought you liked me to drive you crazy."

"Stop freaking talking about the past, Tess. You can't go back there. And do you know why that is?" Disdain and mockery typed those words in the air and flew to the horizon. "Because I can't go back to who I was, either. The real me stayed... in another life. Another life... that's funny, right?" The powerful and yet feeble laughter that followed those words echoed through the desserted beach.

There had been a change. And, even if it wasn't my fault, I was the ultimate cause. However, even after the metamorphosis, I could still read that derranged, and yet apparently serene emerald gaze.

"I kind of expected it to end like this." I blurted, and I stopped talking immediately after. I swallowed. Why was I sharing my innermost, crumbling feelings with someone that, not only didn't have the slightiest interest in listening to it, but was set on silencing me forever? Forever. My legs started to shake. "Just think of London, of the night of the party Fleming&Florey threw. We were scared, and we fought. We have been angry at each other before..."

I didn't remember how piercing those eyes could be. I looked down. I hadn't moved my feet in so long that my legs were covered in golden sand up to my knees. I couln't feel my toes. I couldn't run.

So I yelled.

"David! David!"

Laughter echoed in the beach again, and it trespassed me, and it hit my bones.

"Don't tire yourself, Tessa. Just... say goodbye."
