I had already started the morning, making great time too. I woke up and brought Keronia with me to the ranch one more time before my big adventure. I brought my new wooden sword too, strapping it to my back while my horse and I made quick work of the goats and started trotting out of the ranch, with plenty of time in the day left.
"Have a great time you too!" My ranch instructor called out as we left. Guess my life wasn't so bad after all! I rubbed my hand on Keronia's neck, "Times aren't so bad any more aren't they, huh?"
I spoke to soon.
Right outside of the ranch gates and down the hill was the mayors house. Outside the house was Mayor Bo, and next to him was a boy with black spiky hair. It was like a giant puff around his head only stopping above his neck, making his ears visible, they where rounded unlike my pointy ears. he had brown eyes and wore a grey, dirty, old looking shirt, and same quality pants. He had his arms crossed and and looked up at me making direct eye contact with me.
"Why hello there Kerina!" Mayor Bo greeted me. "It's nice to get to see you before you leave with Russ." looking at Keronia he added "Is 'ol Kero ready to go?"
I slid off the stallion, "Yeah he's ready to go, are you sure the village will be fine without your swords man and only horse owner?" I knew I didn't plan on coming back, but I wanted to know if he had anything planned out for my absence.
The bad-mood boy finally spoke up. "Even if he didn't have anything planned while you being gone, we could easily just replace you." He was definitely trying to get under my skin.
"Rusk! Leave Keronia- I mean Kerina, alone." Bo looked at his son then quickly looked at me. "Sorry, don't mind my son here, hes just jealous of your great opportunity to get out of the village." Seriously? I've been 'not minding' him for 13 years, the total time I've been in Ordon village that is. I was 14.
"Please" Rusk continued "Why would I be jealous of her? You honestly think I would be jealous of a pointy eared freak?" He still had his arms crossed and had a smug look on his face.
Keronia backed up away from us. "What did you say to me?" I stepped forward a little bit but not within arms reach. I seriously didn't want to mess up my chances of that trip but my adrenaline was knotting up my stomach. "You've teased me more then any kid in this place, and your just about to see where its going to get you." I practically spit those words at him. Mayor Bo had gone silent out of shock. He knew I didn't like him and vise versa, but he had never seen either of us like this.
"Where is it gonna get me, huh? What are you going to possibly do to me elf girl?" He had stepped so close to my face I could smell his breath. I had no reason to hit him yet. My hands where shaking so bad and I felt like I could run around the village 4 times over, but I had no desire to do that. All I wanted was to feel his skull and my knuckles collide. Finally Rusk shoved me by my chest which made me feel extremely furious, so I did just that.
In a fit of pure rage and screamed and tackled him to the ground grabbing his neck and we both tumbled down the hill. Distantly I heard Keronia scream in surprise and Bo yell something loud, probably calling some other people. All I saw and heard was blood on my fist because I punched Rusk so hard in the nose it started to bleed. I had one hand fastened around his neck with my nails digging into his soft skin, and with my other hand I punched him in the side if his jaw repeatedly to where his screams of shock and surprise turned into quiet whimpers and crying out for help while he weakly tried to push me off of him. But all I heard was blood roaring in my ears and myself screaming, letting out all the anger I've stored up for years.
Suddenly I felt a strong grip on my shoulders and I was thrown off of the now wailing Rusk. I fell on my back and tried to get back up to get back at him but whoever was holding me back held me to where I couldn't move my arms. My vision cleared a bit and I saw a crowd gather around Rusk and he was helped up on his feet, still crying and blood smeared on his shirt and dripping out his nose.
