Broken

I was a lost soul

I had no heart

I couldn't love even if I tried

I met a boy who overlooked this

He was kind and loving

But I was broken

He told me he loved me

Eventually, I said the same

We loved each other

But I knew the truth

You can't love someone who can't be loved

He asked why I was breaking up with him

I didn't answer

I just kissed him one last time

Through that kiss

I told him everything

I expressed my love for him

He kissed me back with passion

After I pulled away, I spoke

I told him to take me home

This would be our last time together

He deserved someone who could be loved

I wasn't that person

I left him and spared one last glance

His green eyes held tears

Mine had spilled over and were flowing freely

He tried to call me

I didn't pick up

He knocked on my door

I didn't answer

He tried to reach me

But I stayed out of his grasp

Years later, he met someone new

My heart ached for him

He invited me to the wedding

I went

I saw how happy they were

He really loved her

Before he went to the aisle, he pulled me aside

He showed me his fiancé's ring

He said that was going to be my ring that night I left him

He said he never stopped loving me

I was speechless

I shared my love for him

He smiled sadly

He said it was too late

My smile faded

He left to go marry the girl

I had to watch as she got my ring

The pain was awful

It shredded my already broken heart

They left in a car to their honeymoon

I never saw the boy again

And I remained broken
