June 28th 2016 (his 10th birthday)

This is the day Mark's whole life changed forever

Marks POV

I'm s-so hungry. My stomach is empty and raging in pain. I don't think I-I'll make it much longer... Mother is throwing beer bottles everywhere while dad's at work. She always does this. Not feeding me until the last second, but when she does she makes me eat toothpaste and toilet water. The glass cuts my feet and the yelling pierces my ears.

"You don't know the half of the abuse"

Those words ring in my ear. It's the first beautiful sound I've heard. I know the lyrics can be a little morbid at times but I actually like it. Sometimes it calms me to hear sad songs, yet i don't know why.

Mother doesn't allow me to listen to anything unless I'm in my room and its very quiet.

"Mom? Can I-" She cuts me off by saying,"SHUT THE FUCK UP IM TRYING TO WATCH MY FUCKING SHOW!!!" Tears start to run down my face as I run up our spiraling stairs. I get dizzy and trip,"MARK WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY?!?!?"

"S-Sorry M-m-m" At the time i couldn't bring myself to say 'Mom'. She doesn't deserve to be my 'mom'.

In frustration I scream at her,"I HATE YOU M-m-m-". I still couldn't do it. "GO TO YOUR ROOM YOU BITCH AND FUCKING STAY THERE!!!"

My face is stained red with dried up tears everywhere and splotches of tears on my floor. My mother comes in the room with a bottle of beer,"Mark. If you yell at me again your going to your aunties until you learn your lesson. And you know how they act." At least they're nicer than you'll ever be.
