Wasn't Drama Like This Supposed to End in Highschool
Chapter 3
Elena's POV
"Dude," Sam poked me, "that guy over there is completely checking you out. Like, he seriously can't keep his eyes off of you"
I craned my neck to see who she was talking about, but couldn't. "Sam, you're insane. All the guys are looking at you!"
She gave me a look, "Now who's insane?"
We laughed as quietly as we possibly could. The banquet was ready to start. My parents had gotten here a while ago and were now all acquainted with Sam's parents. I was so excited.
The banquet lasted no more than an hour and we had some pretty delicious food. Saying goodbye to my parents for the whole summer was the hard part. I almost started crying, but I didn't want to look like a complete baby. After all, I would be doing this again in August. And everyone else seemed fine...I was not going to be the only wimp.
When all the parents were gone we were given another talk about how we were the chosen forty-five students here for a very academically challenging summer. We had all chosen tough majors to endure and master. And this program was going to help us immensely.
"Yea," I whispered to Sam, "help the boys find out where party central is." She laughed, maybe a little too loud this time, since we got a couple of looks from the professors that were talking. Oops.
Then they gave us our schedules for the next two and half months. It included meals, seminars, study tables, and a whole lot of classes. Fun. Luckily there was plenty of room for free time. This meant using the gym, hanging out, exploring the campus (as well as off campus) and the big end of summer dance. Yay. What, were we still in fifth grade or something?
But I guess the dance would be somewhat fun. We'd get to dress up and I'd find a rebound boy. My distraction.
Speaking of boys, where was that best friend of mine? After about two minutes of searching I found him in the courtyard talking to...Mariana? When did they meet?
"Hey Elena! Get over here"
"Hey Mich-"
"Hey, have you met Mariana yet? Dude, she's from Brazil, isn't that freakin' awesome?!"
I felt a twinge of something strange in the way he looked at her. And she just seemed to be eating up his attention. Kenzie would not be too happy about the way Michael was still looking at Mariana. And I'm guessing Mariana's boyfriend wouldn't either.
"ha, yea I've met her, hey Mariana."
"Hey girl, ooooh Michael, let's go explore the campus!"
And then they left. Just like that.
I stared at their retreating backs feelings something very odd, that I couldn't put my finger on. And then BAM! I was on the ground. And it hurt.
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry!" I felt someone pull me up, though I was still sort of in a haze. My head was throbbing and my vision was just slightly blurring, but the boy's voice continued. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking at all where I was going and I had all this stuff, I'm so sorry!"
Man, he apologizes alot. After my vision was fine, about .2 seconds later, I was finally able to look up at the guy who had caused the trainwreck in my head. And what I saw was pure gorgeous perfection.
